Pioneering Hip-Hop fusion sensation NEONE the Wonderer, and Jazz artist Jake Burgess have come together with Isola=on tapes to produce a charity song dedicated to key workers in the pandemic. ‘We’re Holding On’ captures all of our thoughts, feelings and prayers for those who are on the frontline risking their lives for us during these unprecedented times. It insightfully acknowledges the frustrations we share at being isolated and separated from our loved ones, as well as the importance of remaining positive and expressing gratitude to those confronting the effects of Covid-19 on a day to day basis.

London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Mark Cake continues his new year with his second instalment of a 12-part collaborative series, each featuring some of Mark’s favourite singers, rappers and instrumentalists. Part 2 is in collaboration with folk, singer-songwriter Lisa Marini and is a remix of a song originally released on her 2020 album Born In Tribes.

Kite (remix) takes the introspective, melancholic atmosphere first laid out in the original and twists it into an uncanny, bass-heavy mirror image of itself. With a strong 2-step garage feel, glitchy vocal samples and a driving beat, Kite (remix) offers of a lot of unique creativity along with flavours of Burial and Jamie xx.

Having recently secured a place on Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers artist development scheme, Mark Cake shows why he’s one to keep an eye on. Having produced and mixed the entire song in his bedroom, Kite (remix) is a testament to his resourceful ingenuity and love of collaboration.
