He was not a cynic; he was a skilled surgeon. He did not dismiss morality; he merely lacked faith in it as a governing principle. He perceived humanity as a multifaceted, occasionally harsh, yet comprehensible entity, motivated by desire, fear, envy, and profit. He grasped that to thrive in this world, one must view it not through their own lens, but through the lens of how it wishes to be seen.
