after two years of abstinence, senking takes us again into the depths of his musical creativity with his new record »closing ice«.

the nine tracks of the album are intently dedicated to his distinctively bass-heavy and atmospheric compositions and the trips into the dark recesses of the human psyche.
the mid-tempo grooves leave plenty of room for his sawing, war-declaring sounds that are unfolding expressive and gloomy but nevertheless warm soundscapes. every now and then, like a distant echo, a pacifying melodic fragment gives comfort and hope. however, the very open and seemingly improvised songs always follow their inner musical logic. »serpent« or »lighthouse hustle«, for example, could indeed be interpreted as conventional arrangements. and anyway, the riffs and melodies on »closing ice« are rooted in a profound tradition of rock and pop music.

with »closing ice«, senking delivers exactly what the title promises: a balancing act between danger, hope and destruction, this record is an eerily beautiful companion into the innermost spheres.

'fluid variations' is a meditative audiovisual environment. Indeterminate in is very nature, the structure of the piece is a terrain of possibilities, and as such has no beginning, end, or in the traditional sense progression. Its temporal arrangement is rather referential to the perception of time as a stream of continual moments, each moment containing the ability of transient contraction and expansion.

Sound + Process # 13 features musician, designer, programmer and teacher Meng Qi. A pioneering interface theorist, Meng Qi is perhaps best known for opening new dimensions of control and interaction with Peter Blasser’s Ciat-Lonbarde circuits. His earliest module, Voltage Memory, is the first synth module to have ever been both designed and manufactured in China. Over the years, Meng Qi has released a wide spectrum of music with these and other instruments. His experiments with feedback and frequency modulation are only enhanced by explorations of tonality — the resulting songs are uniquely beautiful in both timbre and emotion.

This track was composed for the "Curtis" (iphone/ipod/ipad) app by The Strange Agency. This piece is a Acousmatic composition based on everyday found objects. I recorded various wine glasses, gears, metal, motors, Ratchets, chimes, croaking frog scraper, Indian bells, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Santoor, waterphone, piano, hematite magnets, processed voice, underwater ambiances, computer, and sprinkled bits of Buchla 200e/Doepfer Euro rack Modular. 
All of the sounds originally captured at 24-bit 96khz with a Neumann RSM 191 A/S stereo shotgun mic, SMK4060 Stereo Matched 4060-BM Miniature Omnidirectional Microphones and Sound Devices 702 recorder. Download the wave in 16-bit 44.1khz wave:)

Izzy Barreiro is an accomplished DJ, producer, composer, synthesist and teacher. They perform as @stud1nt and are part of the deeply necessary collectives Discwoman and KUNQ.
