Award-winning musician and artist Mark Gothard has been writing and recording for more than 25 years, airing his wares across the nation as a traveling troubadour across the East Coast with stops in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Boston, as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains and Jackson, Wyoming. Now again based in his native Los Angeles, Mark has written more than 300 songs and performed at many of the music capital’s renowned venues, including House of Blues, Largo, B.B. King and The Troubadour.

The onset of 2018 shudders with anticipation as Mark prepares to release his seventh full-length CD, "The Cherrylee Sessions", drawing inspiration from Americana and blues and such heroes as Buddy Holly, B.B. King and Lightnin’ Hopkins. The album’s preview single “Lovesick” has been embraced by global licensing company Pop-Up Music for placement in film and/or TV.
Last February, new song “It’s Alright”, a bluesy parody from “Cherylee” was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award in the Blues Category—Mark’s third HMMA nomination. For the third year, he attended the gala awards and red carpet ceremony at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood last November.

Meanwhile, Mark’s feature story—which features his song “Dive Bar Lawn” from his sixth indie CD “Fly The Coop”—has marked more than 1 million marketing impressions among readers of publisher Marquix Global Network’s syndicates.

“The past 6 months has marked a transformation in my life and music career,” Mark says. “I married the love of my life last July and everything is different now. My voice as an artist has grown brazen and charismatic....I feel like I've "arrived", have a clear message, and am more than ready to transcribe it on the scar tissue of your soul. The new CD that me and Terry Bailey have been working on since my birth (sorry, it just seems that long ago) is nearly complete, and this album I’m calling, “A Powderkeg of Americana”. It reeks of the gravity of Bruce on “Nebraska”, the levity of Pink Anderson’s “Greasy Greens” , and the sincerity of Jeff Buckley when he sang “Hallelujah”…these songs are so much more well developed then before, and it's a stunning difference when you’re listening.”  

In January 2015, Mark was awarded the Akademia Music Award for Best Folk/Americana Song, honoring “Dive Bar Lawn.” The song was also nominated for an HMMA in the Americana/Folk/Acoustic category. Adding to his kudos, Mark’s track “Timbuktu”—recorded by Nashville’s Paramount Group Inc.—won the 2013 Director’s Award in the Nashville International Song and Lyric Contest, while his “Jesse James” was nominated for a 2012 HMMA in the Folk/Acoustic Category.

In his younger years, Mark was a Varsity Tennis player attending Princeton University. When a teammate showed him how to strum a few chords on the guitar, his career fate quickly transitioned from a strung racket to six strings. He has also earned a Master’s in Education, with teaching credentials, but his roots remain firmly planted in song.
