Kuukou continues to fly on course with another blood-pumping addition to the catalogue from VOLTA and Respekt affiliated Giulia. Based in Rome, Giulia is a masterful producer, DJ and sound designer whose spacious and propulsive Techno has been supported by dignitary such as Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens and of course - Simina Grigoriu.

Here she lines up a dance floor rocket that draws together a compelling contrast between brutalist synth and drum work and Giulia's light, spectral vocals. 

'Shadow' charges straight out of the blocks with a formidable kick rattling under swift, burnished hats and caustic stabs. On-beat claps whip up frenzied energy in build ups towards breaks that grant space for the vocals to glow through the fog before the groove slaps back with power and punch. Not to be missed! 

Simina Grigoriu's remix of 'Shadow' has a stripped-back sound with a subdued bassline that allows the percussion to deliver a hypnotic groove. It also makes sparse use of the original's vocal to increase its impact in key sections.

Lenske is delighted to welcome back Ahl Iver for his second EP on the label, containing four cuts of percussive heat. Belgian DJ/Producer Ahl Iver returns to Amelie Lens’ Lenske for his next EP. Following on from 2019’s ‘Haunted Patterns’, ‘Down The Void EP’ begins 2021 as the fifteenth release on the highly regarded Belgian techno label.
Starting off strong is the robust ‘Danger Close’. An authoritative kick drum sets the pace and is quickly accompanied by a number of jolting rave elements. High pitched echoing synths ring out and strident keys
punch their way through the chaos. A modern techno-rave hybrid that blends the best of both worlds. Continuing with force is ‘Lights Out’, a galvanizing rave cut layered under scattered detuned vocal samples, thundering bass and a pandemonium of drums. Ethereal keys bring a joyous emotion and balance to the track. ‘Down The Void’ is up next on the record, with a squelchy baseline and razor sharp hi-hats providing the foundation. An arpeggiated synth injects cunning hints of trance while still retaining a commanding techno ferocity.
Rounding off the record is ‘Say Goodbye’, led by a thumping kick and snare drum combination that pushes the tempo. A scattering of synth sounds build together before the lead takes hold. Once into the flow of the beat, a jolting breakdown seizes our attention. A mischievous vocal sample lingers over stabbing keys before cutting back into rhythm until close. Mark Greene is an electronic music producer and qualified sound engineer based in Ireland. After completing his training in the Sound Training Centre in Dublin under Will Kinsella (Hybrasil), Mark began signing some early tracks to various labels in Europe. Quite soon after, Mark was releasing tracks on well established labels like Bush Records, Naked Lunch, Elektrax and Carl Cox’ longstanding imprint Intec Digital. A string of popular releases allowed Mark to play gigs across Europe with regular trips to Amsterdam, in particular for the annual ADE each Autumn.

An avid drummer as a child, Mark has always had an affinity for heavy kick-drums in his tracks. As the years have gone by his productions have gained some bpm and Mark’s music is now finding its way into the hands of DJs at the forefront of the industrial techno scene. Rebekah, I Hate Models, Theo Nasa, Chris Liebing, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Amelie Lens and more are supporting his productions of late, particularly his original tracks on his newly established DORCHA Records - meaning ‘dark’ in the Irish language.

Mark launched DORCHA in 2020 to circumnavigate the typical months-long process of releasing on other labels. DORCHA is a place for Mark to release tracks on his own schedule and experiment with various different styles and creative approaches. The aim of the label is to identify new artists and build a small roster to carry the DORCHA flag.

Each month you can tune into Mark’s Progress Radio show for one hour of unreleased music from himself and some of the best producers in techno. Broadcasting on several stations around the world, the show will reach the 100 episode milestone in 2022.
