Last year, I learned to be alone.
Nowhere that I stay can I call home.
I unlearned everything.
I unlearned me.

All these excuses, I possess
All my demons to put to rest
I am my own hell.
Time will tell.
 
I put my pain into a box
broke to pieces the keys to the locks
but no matter what depths I hid from
I never buried it deep enough

This year, I aim to figure out
what puts me in moods of self doubt
why choices and  moves I make
seem to break

I'm slowly crawling back into my own skin
to places of discomfort and contemplation
there's so much of myself to be done
there's nowhere to run

what aching feels like in the back of your mind
how light could quickly fade to dark

at the bottom bottle, at the butt of that cigarette

so many times so many times I can't forget

you can go back to pretending that you are fine
