Ask any self-respecting hard house fan which two labels have held true to their sound over the years; which two labels have been torch-bearers for their style of hard house, and there are two names that spring immediately to mind.

For those going out to Frantic, Trade, Sunnyside Up and other early hard house nights in London, it was Tripoli Trax, run out of the legendary Pure Groove Records. For those growing up with the sound in the North at nights like Insomniacz and Sundissential North it was Sheffield's finest, Vicious Circle.

So as part of our celebration of 20 years of hard house, we give you a clash of the titans... A hard house heavyweight showdown... Tripoli Trax vs Vicious Circle! Featuring iconic label artists Paul King and Knuckleheadz, the label managers Ben Stevens and Marc Johnson, guests Wizard, George E and Tim Clewz, and of course residents Amp Attack and Dave Curtis @ Union, Vauxhall. You definitely wouldn`t have heard this before, only 45 mins, this is proper rare, nice and early, from about late 94 /early 95. [Correction, the cognicenti have put it early / mid 93!] Second half of one of Tony`s sets. It`s definitely Tony as Ian M has verified it. [I thought it was Ian as it was so tough] He said that Tony was the only one with the balls to play No Women Allowed in Trade at that time lol. If anybody knows where the club was, it would be much appreciated. You`ll get the same impression that I did, I think I`ve heard this one, then a different tune comes in and you realise, ohh, this is a rare one! Just enjoy it!

Listen to this! Once again, as rare as a very rare thing, definitely him, definitely live at Trade. Early to mid 95, some wicked choices and combinations, proper quality! Again, only 45 mins long, the second half of his set, but still a beautiful find [I`ll boost the sound in a couple of weeks and replace the file] Think about what he would have been playing up and down the country all weekend and to then turn up at Trade and just let rip, no wonder he said that he had a record box purely for the ones he was going to play at Trade.
