"I love exploring and creating different sounds. From funk, soul, and hip hop to latin, drum & bass, rear groove, and hardcore. Plus places that inspire my soul like Ibiza, Spain, Germany, London, Jamaica… Music for me is a never-ending journey," Ramsey says.
From all his releases, you already know you’re in for a diverse ride of styles.  He smoothly combines funk, house, electronica and Balearic base on a groove-oriented tip, perfectly balancing beats for both the headphones and dance floor. Mark’s sound is sophisticated and sexy, while still staying true to its roots.  Mark effortlessly transports you from the relaxing beaches of Salinas to the streets of South London, and everywhere in between.
His new label, Whampt Recordings, brings new sounds to you and Mark continues his mission of showcasing new, modern global sounds from the magical Mediterranean.
Ramsey was born in London in 1977 and absorbed multiple genres into his music stream. He was naturally drawn to groovy and soul felt House and Minimal Techno, which had melody and percussive elements. He spent his teens immersing himself in the sounds of Rick James, Roy Ayers, Paul Hardcastle, Prince, The Gap Band, M Beat - sparking his love of dance music. After spinning at Egg London, SE ONE, Palermo Scilly, Barcelona LOFT, Ibiza La Plage, Ushuaia Ibiza, Ibiza Global Radio, and Grial Ibiza. Since then, he’s has had his fair share of success with the release of U Turn, Bannaman, and Hide Your Drugs, which was supported by the likes of Richie Hawtins, Umek, Ahmet Sendil, Valentino Kanzyani, and Wally Lopez. A number of popular and critically acclaimed mix CDs have appeared in the last three years, charting Mark’s personal success as DJ, promoter and music curator. Popular mixes include: U TURN (2008), Hide Your Drugs (2009), Artemisia Flow (2008) and Last Monday (2010).
Now, Ramsey has recently released his own label, Whampt Recordings, where he’s helping upcoming artists turn their music on to established producers worldwide, as well as creating an avenue to release his own music.
"I thought about the music I love when creating the label; and how much talent is organically grown from the most unexpected places around the world. I really wanted to represent a world sound, completely unique, diverse and as passionate as the artists that inspire me," he says.
Inspired by the possibilities of the international club culture and music, Whampt Recordings offers all kinds of unique and twisted angles on cutting edge electronic music. The long awaited launch of Whampt Recordings’ first release comes with much excitement and praise. Set to launch in 2011, Ramsey demonstrates his keen ear and meticulous attention to detail in a collection of international tracks delivered straight from the soul. It’s an impressive label with Infectious percussive grooves and electronica on the market today. Some of the grooves border on jazzy styles that heat up any occasion or mood…. All in all, layers and layers of beats and eclectic sounds in an unforgettable collective to start the new year and cause a February thaw wherever it is played.
"Producing is new to me, but I love it," he says "it really feeds my inner creativity and allows me to create an entire body of work from scratch while listening to new musical talent that’s on the streets today."
