Make no bones about it. Mark Steiner sure doesn’t.

The fact that this once decadent Norwegian-American ruffian has been clean and sober since April 2021 has, almost ironically, resulted in the successful development of this new album, Black Hole.

This is Steiner’s first full-length release since the album Saudade was first launched back in November, 2014, and features legendary drummer Ted Parsons (Prong, ex-Swans, Killing Joke, Jesu, Metallic Taste of Blood, Keith Levine), bassist Leon Muraglia (Radio 9, Salvatore) and guitarist Romek Paluch-Edwards, along with additional special guests, including Norwegian singers Ingunn Holmen and Line Saus, Czech violinist Pavel Cingl, and long-term Danish wingman Thomas Borge.

Black Hole, both as a song and as an album title, is a journey where intersecting dark, psychically tortured souls have clambered up from the abyss into a bizzare post-pandemic world riddled with struggle. 

These mastered tracks, produced and mixed by Leon Muraglia and Mark Steiner, have just experienced a final transformation in the hands of mastering magician Nick Terry.

Where these songs end up before they inevitably hit the global market is anybody’s guess at the moment, but for now you are presented with the opportunity to give them all a listen…

Unusually for me it is a Love song. I very, very rarely write love songs. I think this is the 3rd ever love song that I've written and I'm not even in Love with anyone. This is a song about the FEELING of 'Being in Love'. The memory of how it makes you feel. It contains a real memory too. It has a chorus to die for and every time it's been performed live people are singing it back to me. For all you Love Birds out there......it's Valentines Day again. Ex-New Yorker Mark Steiner is a seasoned Norwegian-American international recording artist, performer and producer who relocated to Oslo, Norway in 2002. His music can be described as melancholic "swamp-noir," but with lyrics which often carry a subtle sense of humor. Mark Steiner is about to release a new album under the name Mark Steiner & His Problems along with drummer Ted Parsons (ex-Swans, Prong, Killing Joke), bassist Leon Muraglia (Radio 9, OMD), guitarist Romer Paluch-Edwards, and Norwegian chanteuse Ingunn Holmen.
