World Premiere of my newest composition, Ballards' Joy, written for combined Big Band and Steel Band. This live performance features the Oakland University Jazz Band, OU Pan-Jazz, and guest trumpeter Etienne Charles. Ballards' Joy is written for and inspired by my incredible grandparents, Charles and Eileen Ballard.

Composition for my son Paxton Lloyd Stone. We wrote this mbira piece at the University of Michigan Children's Hospital after Pax underwent heart surgery for an undiagnosed congenital heart defect when he was 11 days old. We played this composition together throughout his nearly two-week recovery at the hospital.

Fortress Of Well Being

In this new recording Mark Stone brings together celebrated world percussion traditions of Africa and India with the lyricism of the violin to create a vibrant new global soundscape. Mark's original music draws on his wide-ranging compositional influences, stretching from American jazz to traditional African music and classical Indian music to European concert music. On this album Mark is joined by violinists Regina Carter, Raghanvendra Rao, and Alan Grubner, percussionists Haruna Walusimbi, Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan, and Dan Piccolo, as well as bassist Miles Brown.
