The Mark Williams and Dre Gray wrote this sensual groove, and the song was produced by the LA based SWAT team. “When  Dre came to me with this track, I could hear the sensuality in the beauty of the music but I didn’t want to write anything overtly sexual”. Then one night I was watching television and saw President Obama and First Lady Michelle dancing and the way he looked at her spoke to me. Seeing this powerful Black man who happened to be the leader of the free world was not ashamed of showing the joy and love of a woman. This is something we men seem to hide in this era. The words just came to me; “There’s a line that says when you walked into the room every guy was watching you, but you danced, you danced for me” that’s powerful, sensual and to me that says it all”.

It’s rare when you hear a song and you just know that it’s going to be a classic. Songs like Sadie by the Spinners or Wake Up Everybody by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and ABC from the Jackson Five come to mind. I can honestly say A Family Reunion sung by The Mark Williams is one of those songs. Written and produced by Ku Dollar and Williams this gem, starts with the smooth Musical intro from Ku’s keyboard which is sweet and catchy. Then the easy and appealing spoken word intro from The Mark Williams comes in and eases you into this wonderfully loving story with an opening line that says  “ You know things ain’t been the same since Big Momma & Daddy’s been gone”. That lyric alone touches the heart, then WMS states “the only way we communicate now is on Facebook”.  Williams conversational vocal expression and lyrical execution makes you think about your own family. Then the singing starts and that’s when you hear The Mark Williams a vocalist who has a pleasant tone bring the whole story together. The song then ends with a sweet story line about different remembrance’s of family events and members who are no longer here, along with a solid lyrical fade and a sweet multi layered R&B sing song vocal arrangement that sounds familiar, yet new.
