We are back in 2013.
Beginning of 2012 a new name appeared on the international dancefloor: CLAPTONE (artist of the year 2012 in German Trendcharts DCC).
The track ‘CREAM’ became the worldwide Top Track (No.2) of Beatport in the category Deep House and was among the Top 10 of the most charted tracks for 2012 on Resident Advisor.
The new year brings 2 more surehots for the clubs: WRONG & NO EYES featuring JAW from dOP.

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded darkness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.
Years spending wandering medieval landscapes have informed Claptone’s view of the world, experiencing both magical mystery and muted melancholy he enchanted onlookers with occult instruments and beguiling sounds. Forever surrounded by a sense of intrigue, the world soon cottoned on to the elusive yet enchanting musical powers of this otherworldly beast. The results are that today his shamanistic sonic powers take him all around the world.
Whilst Claptone has continued to roam in his own circles, 2012AD proved to be a year dominated by his infectious ‘Cream’ track. It became an immediate hit, topping new world charts at Beatport and RA, whilst the sonic conjuring of the ‘Night On Fire’ EP also lured all those who heard it, with the result another Top 20 hit. But that’s not all, for the creativity flows freely in our hero, and his ‘Another Night’ also proved to be just as successful on the dancefloor. Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements.
Up to the present day, Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label, picking up props from the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, DJ Hell, Jesse Rose, A-Trak along the way. Who or whatever Claptone is, it is alive, with a life of its own, evolving and revolving in equal measure, exploring new sounds naturally and forever taking inspiration from long gone and occult worlds.
So far, esteemed and influential dancefloors at clubs in Berlin, London, Paris, Melbourne, Shanghai, New York and many others around the world have fallen under the sonic spell of this secretive alchemist. The future is unpredictable for Claptone, but a new release ‘Wrong’ including the track ‘No Eyes’ with the inimitable JAW from French funsters dOP is on the horizon. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours…

No Eyes ft. Jaw | Exploited

Recorded at John’s last night at The Vagabond Nightclub in Downtown Miami during this year’s Miami Music Week, ‘LIVE IN MIAMI’ features 37 tracks and nearly 4 hours of the very best underground electronic music, spanning across more than two decades.  

Showcasing a wide selection of new and classic records ranging from as far back as 1992 (Secret Knowledge – Sugar Daddy) and 1993 (Nicole – A Small Entrance To A Large Spectrum and Laurent Garnier – Acid Eiffel) Digweed’s latest opus effortlessly takes us through a vast array of sounds, eras and genres from what was an incredibly special night back in March of this year.

 From some major reminiscent acid moments of the early 90s right through the years to the upfront house and techno soundscapes of present day, John Digweed blends tracks from some of the most notable producers into one seamless mix that truly captures the spontaneity and vibe of the crowd in one of the world’s coolest, most intimate and unorthodox clubbing destinations.

Another new face graces the halls of Soma’s roster as American based Techno artist Jeff Derringer make a blistering debut with Panic. Jeff weighs in with 2 top-notch hypnotic Techno tracks and we also welcome a debut on Soma from the incomparable Mike Parker who whips up his usual storm of sound on his remix of title track Panic.

No time is wasted as the EP open with all guns blazing. Staccato synth hooks loop out of control as buzzing percussion fuels the fire within this track. Bent out bass and sub aquatic pings keep this track rooted in the depths of unrelenting Techno. 

Fellow American Mike Parker follows up Jeff’s onslaught with his completely unique version of Techno. A solid 909 kick is warped beyond reality with looped out, frenzied synths that only Mike seems to be able to control. Percussive blips give rise to Mike’s intentions within this remix as he keeps it dark and turbulent. 

Panic Attack closes the EP with a little lighter edge as big chords permeate thunderous low end and dubbed out percussion. Building slowly, Jeff creates the perfect tension needed to deliver the goods and a subtle break in the flow gives rise to a devastatingly effective deep techno track.

A new collection of otherworldly transmissions from Deepchord’s laboratory. With "Ultraviolet Music", Deepchord returns to his proprietary formula of atmospheric heroin-house (after 2013's more cinematic "20 Electrostatic Soundfields"). A hallucinogenic amalgamation of deep emotive textures swimming around 4/4 kicks and sub-bass, middle of the night atmospheres, hypnotic repetitions, shortwave static and slowly evolving textures that envelop the listener in warm blankets of sound. Equally effective on a dance floor as it is in one's private space. Multi-dimensional sounds that move the mind and the feet. Numerous (processed) acoustic and organic sound sources make these tracks seem alive in a way that is uncommon in electronic music today. They are breathing life-forms that reveal their subtle layers with repeated listenings. Australian producer Deepchild epitomises the concept of a ‘future classic’ with Blackness of the Sea, a dancefloor burner with a conscience! The track oozes soul with stunning vocals that speak of the power of music in troubled times, set atop a tough and solid warm house groove. The A2 Lifetime is another winner, minimal and more chilled with a killer bassline and great production further cementing Deepchild’s reputation as a unique talent to watch. On the flip multi-dimensional Finnish producer Luomo remixes Blackness of the Sea into an emotive deep house masterpiece for the floor, full of movement and reminiscent of his early work on Vocalcity. It’s rare that the reality of the world finds it’s way into dance music, even more so when the results are as compelling as this! This is my first attempt at drum and bass, i am aware that it's not alot like my other stuff and some of you wont like it because of that, but i thought i'd give it a shot anyway. I've been pondering for a while on whether i should release this and i figured it's not gonna do any harm, so i might aswel.

I would like to state now that if you like it and you think i should do a couple more drum and bass remixes then please say, because i may start to do a few on the side. And if you don't like it, then please keep it to yourself because this is just for a bit of fun and i'm not aiming for a career in the music industry. Anyways, i hope you enjoy the song! I find it's quite a good song to drive to!
