This composition was first set to a more aggressive style with the Comanche as a basis for a Prelude for Orchestra.  With some help from Suno.com and work in the studio it is now rearranged to an interesting compromise with a merging of the thematic material transported and reformulated.  Jazz elements deliver an interesting interplay with the Western native American themes (why not?). The Rocky Mountains were called the Shining Mountains by the Ute (an Indigenous people of the Great Basin and Colorado Plateau in present-day Utah, western Colorado, and northern New Mexico., U.S.A.).

l'incandescence

Subtitled "The Seven Hills" does not refer to Rome, but to the hills south of Nashville Tennessee and the aftermath of the battle described below in this musical vignette.  This work composed at Piano in my home in Nashville December 5 through 7,  2025,  output to wav format from Sibelius, and remastered at Suno.com with minimal changes. 

Battle of Nashville, Tennessee; refers to the decisive December 1864 Civil War battle where Union forces crushed General John Bell Hood's Army of Tennessee in the hills south of Nashville, especially highlighting key locations like Shy's Hill and Peach Orchard Hill, decisive high ground attackers stormed, solidifying Union control and effectively ending major Confederate resistance in Tennessee. The "hills" were the critical terrain where Union troops, including brave USCT regiments, overwhelmed entrenched Confederates, leading to a shattering Confederate defeat and retreat.

This work for piano was composed using material from an earlier composition from 2010 for Concert Band called Eklektikos. Here the work begins with the Impromptu and incorporates a dream of love as a centerpiece of the work, returning to reprise the first and second themes in reverse order to close. This work was composed mainly at my Piano in my home, entered through Sibelius software note for note, adjusted for presentation and output to wav, remastered at suno.com, and then I used Studio software to make adjustments to create what you hear in this presentation.

The jazz ensemble opens with a tight upright bass groove and soft brushwork on drums, accompanied by syncopated piano chords, Horns enter on the head, trading melodic phrases before spacious improvisation segments, The arrangement features dynamic swells and a swinging finale.
