From Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhumā) who said that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam) said, "I have been ordered to fight the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped (in truth) but Allāh and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh, and (until) they establish the prayer and give the zakāh. So if they do that, their blood and wealth is safeguarded from me, unless it pertains to a right of Islām, and their reckoning is with Allāh."

From Abū Mālik al-Ḥārith bin ʿĀṣim al-Ashʿarī (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) who said:

The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam) said: "Purity is one-half of faith, (saying) 'alḥamdulillāh' fills the scales, and (saying) 'subḥānallāh wal-ḥamdulillāh' fill what is between the heavens and the earth. Prayer is light, charity is an evidence and patience is illumination. The Qurʾān is a proof for or against you. Everyone awakes as a vendor of his own soul, so either he delivers it or destroys it."
