Book of Purification - Rulings regarding the ghusl of the women - Part 2

Lesson One:

The new book that ustadh started which is ‘Umdatul Ahkam’ is different to the book that is covered on Mondays which Umdatul Fiqh.
This book starts with the chapter of ‘book of Purification’
All the hadiths found in this book are agreed upon both Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

• First hadith is the hadith of ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb (radiyallāhu ʿanhu) narrated that Allāh’s Messenger (salallāhu ʿalaihi wasallam) said: “Actions are only by intentions, and for each person there is only that which he intended. So, whoever’s migration was to Allāh and His Messenger, then his migration is considered to be to Allāh and His Messenger. But whoever’s migration was to attain a worldly possession, or for a woman he wanted to marry, then his emigration is for that for which he migrated.” 

- There after the following are covered:
1. Short biography of the noble companion and the leader of the believers ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb (radiyallāhu ʿanhu).

- When he accepted Islam and the impact it had to the muslims
- How many battles he attended.
- How long his khalifah was for.
- How he was kiled and who killed him.
2. Explaining of the wording of the hadith in the linguistic as well shariah

- meaning of intentions
- meaning of action
- meaning migration
3. Importance of intentions and its status.

- The correct way to make it .
- How it can differentiation between normal acts and acts of worship.
- How it can be corrputed


- The benefits of this hadith: 


1. Emphasises of the importance of the Niyyah (intention) 
2. Inciting to have sincerity in the intention and making clear the value of that.
3. Warning against intending this dunya in our actions.
4. Showing that people differ concerning a person will be rewarded only for what they intended.
5. Purification is from actions therefore it cannot be established without a Niyyah 
6. The excellence of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)’s manner of educating his companions and his perfect eloquence and clarification.

Imām Ahmad (رحمه الله) said:

The Foundations of Islam are found in 3 Hadīth:

1. Actions are judged by intentions (Hadith #1 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From the Chief of the Believers, Abī Hafṣ ʿUmar bin al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiyallāhu anhu) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam) saying:

"Verily actions are based upon the intentions (behind them) and every man shall have (in accordance) with what he intended. Thus, he whose migration was (for the sake of) Allāh and His Messenger, then his migration was indeed for Allāh and His Messenger. And he whose migration was to attain a portion of the world or to take some woman in marriage, then his migration was for that for which he migrated." 

Related by Muslim, al-Bukhārī 

2. Whoever innovates into this affair of ours that which is not from it, then it is rejected (Hadith #5 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From the Mother of the Believers, Umm ʿAbd Allāh ʿĀʾishah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) who said:

The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) said, "Whoever introduces something into this affair of ours that is not from it will have it rejected." And in the narration of Muslim, "Whoever does an action that is not from our affair will have it rejected."

Related by al-Bukhārī, Muslim 

3. Halal is clear and Haram is clear (Hadith #6 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Nuʿmān bin Bashīr (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhumā) who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) saying, "That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear and between the two are ambiguous matters which many people do not know of. So whoever took caution regarding the ambiguous matters has absolved himself regarding his religion and his honour. And whoever fell into the doubtful matters has fallen into the unlawful, just like the shepherd who grazes his flock around the sanctuary (of a king), all but grazing therein. Indeed, every king has a sanctuary (that cannot be violated) and indeed the sanctuary of Allāh is his prohibitions. Indeed, there is a morsel of flesh in the body which if it is sound the whole body is sound and which if itis corrupt the whole body is corrupt. Indeed, it is the heart."
