Whoever says that the recitation of the Qur’an is created is and innovator

Know that whoever says that his recital of the Qur’an is created is an innovator. Whoever remains silent and will neither say created or uncreated, he, too, is a Jahmee. This was the saying of Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He amongst you who lives long will see great controversy, so beware of newly invented matters because they are miguidance and take to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided khulafaa;’ grasp that with your molar teeth.”

Lesson 67 - Imaam Al-Barbahari's Sharh As-Sunnah - Saying the recitation of the Qur’an is created

14.07.2015 - Our brother Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullah) explained in his lecture entitled, “The Sunni Guards His Companionship” as part of Mpubs’ Ramadhaan Reminders 2015 that from the greatest foundations of the Deen is to warn against and abandon innovation and its people. He further elucidated that the ahaadeeth regarding the rights of a Muslim and the prohibition of boycotting your Muslim brother are not absolute and should be used in their proper place. So when one weighs the benefits and harms, it is evident that the great harms of mixing with the people of innovation (for the sake of friendship) far outweigh any good that could be brought about. However, if a person of knowledge and insight were to mix with them in order to refute their falsehood and clarify the truth, then no doubt - by the Permission of Allah - this could result in much good.
