Lesson 02 - Usūl us-Sunnah of Imām Ahmad

• The importance of adhering to the understanding of the Companions.
• The understanding of the Companions is the yardstick by which truth is known. – Shaykh Rabee' (حفظه الله) 
• “…Allah looked upon the hearts of the servants—after the heart of Muhammad (ﷺ) — and found the hearts of the Sahaba to be the best of hearts, so He chose them.” – Ibn Masʿūd (رضي الله عنه)
• The foundation of adhering to the understanding of the Sahaba stands in opposition to the people of innovation.
• “And they (the Sahaba) did not change in the least.” – Al-Aḥzāb:23
• The Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ and the Sunnah of the Caliphs (companions) is one.
• “This nation will split into 73 sects…”
• There is protection in adhering to the Sunnah.
• Those who abandon the Sunnah are destroyed.
• Innovation appeared in the time of the Companions, but not from them.
• The first act of terrorism was committed by the Khawarij with the killing of ʿUthmān.
• “Whoever lives after me from amongst you will see much differing…” – This differing is Bid’ah. – Shaykh al-Fawzān (حفظه الله)

[08/11/2024] The Honour of a Muslim is Sacred - By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

- {…and (as for) the believers it was incumbent upon Us (Allāh) to help them} [Surah ar-Rūm 47].
- Hadīth regarding The right of a Muslim upon another Muslim.
- The honour of being chosen by Allāh to be Muslim. 
- The obligation of recognising and not violating the rights of another Muslim.
- The prohibition of taking even a stick that belongs to a Muslim, in jest or seriously. 
- Attaining nobility by defending the honour of a Muslim. 
- A tremendous reward for a tremendous action.
- The right of the ‘ulamā to be defended when the people speak ill of them. 
- Being mindful of the words we utter. 
- The evil of belittling one’s Muslim brother.
- Every Muslim to another Muslim is sacred, his wealth, his honour and his blood.


The Honour of a Muslim is Sacred By Abu Fudayl

📜 The Prophet ﷺ said:

Allāh, the Most High said: 'I am to my slave as he thinks of Me. If he has good thoughts of Me, then that is good for him, and if He has bad thoughts (of me) then that is bad for him.'

Sahīh al-Jām'i 4315


📜 The Prophet ﷺ said that Allāh says,

“I am [towards my servant] as my servant’s expectation of Me and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his self, I will remember Him in My self, and if he remembers me in a gathering, I will remember him in a better gathering. If he advances towards Me [in obedience] by a handspan, I advance towards him [with acceptance and reward] by a forearm’s length, and if he advances towards Me [in obedience] by a forearm’s length, I advance towards Him [with acceptance and reward] by an extended arm’s length. And if he comes to me [in obedience] walking, I come to him [with acceptance and reward] hurriedly. And whoever met me with an earth-full of sin, I would meet him with its like in forgiveness.”
