- The greatest blessing in our lives. 
- Allāh’s command to be in the company of the righteous and warning against being with those who are heedless and follow their desires. 
- The amazing outcome of simply being in the company of those who busy themselves with the worship of Allāh.
- The reward on the Day of Resurrection for those who loved one another solely for the sake of Allāh. 
- Being careful regarding whom we love in the dunyā. 
- The friendship that will turn into enmity on the Day of Resurrection, and the friendship that is everlasting. 
- One of the greatest regrets of the people of the Fire.
- The evil consequence of bad companionship.
- Looking to whom we befriend.


Friendship by Abu Inaayah

Explanation of the Hadīth Qudsi:

The Prophet ﷺ said,

"Verily, Allāh - the Exalted - will say on the Day of Judgment,
'Where are those who loved each other for My sake? I will shade them on a day on which there is no shade except My Shade.'"

(Sahīh Muslim 2566)

"Where are those who Loved each other for my sake?..." - Ustādh Abu ʿAbdur-Raḥmān Hilāl (حفظه الله)

A khuṭbah discussing the means to a happy life including sincerity, patience upon worship, avoiding sin and righteous companionship towards enjoying life, being full of hope (in Allāh) and fear (taqwá). This is contrasted with the hopelessness, meaninglessness (nihilism) and aimless wondering of the people devoid of īmān (the disbelievers).

The Prophet ﷺ reminds us of the importance of good company in this hadith(record of the Prophet ﷺ): “A good friend and a bad friend are like a perfume-seller and a blacksmith: The perfume-seller might give you some perfume as a gift, or you might buy some from him, or at least you might smell its fragrance. As for the blacksmith, he might singe your clothes, and at the very least you will breathe in the fumes of the furnace.” [Bukhari, Muslim]

On Sunday 23rd February 2020, For Mpubs' 12th Annual Islāmic Conference entitled, "Battlefield of The Heart," our Shaykh Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl (May Allah preserve him) delivered a tremendous lecture via a live video feed to the brothers and sisters at Masjid Ibn Abbaas, Tobago where he elaborated on the vile nature of the path of following one's desires. He spoke of three types of misguidance that was warned against by our Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allāh be upon him), namely covetousness that is obeyed, desires that are followed and every possessor of an opinion being amazed by his opinion.  The lecture brought forth jewels of guidance worthy of every Muslim's careful study and contemplation.
