"First Impressions" written by Edgar Meyer was released on the album Appalachian Waltz 1996 by Sony Classical. Performed by Mark O' Connor, Yo Yo Ma with bassist - composer Meyer on piano. "First Impressions" is track 7 on the album.
I have arranged the piece for acoustic guitar, piano, solo guitar and mandolin with an added bass part staying true to the solo lines with embellishments as needed and have also added an up tempo electric rhythm section to the "B" material. My daughter Grace Robinson is on piano with Joe Regalado on percussion. I hope you enjoy this outstanding composition by Edgar Meyer........Mark

I have taken "Annabelle Lee" & "Fuel The Fire" two songs by Sarah Jarosz and blended them together. The Edgar Allan Poe
poem "Annabelle Lee" is sung featuring the talented Twyla Foreman with "Fuel The Fire" filling out the piece instrumentally. Somehow it turned out full blown bluegrass! I've recorded an acoustic version of Pete Seeger's "Turn Turn Turn" as performed by "The Byrds". The picture I've posted is of our band from the early 70's "Wheatstraw" located in Austin, Texas and this is how we probably would have sounded back then if we had been recording. We played Castle Creek on Congress and The Armadillo World as well as The Saxon Pub as regular stops. The talented Andy Murphy is singing the high tenor line for me! Mark has been a professional musician and music educator for 38 years having performed along side  Michael Martin Murphy , Jerry Jeff Walker during the 70’s and Christian recording artist Cynthia Clawson during the 
80’s. Although Mark is a classical orchestral conductor he enjoys all musical genres. He writes and records his own style of acoustic music with a cd entitled “Darlin Rose”. Mark has recorded a second album 2018 entitled Mark Best – With A Little Help From My Friends a collection of Beatle material performed Americana style. Mark  began a fiddling program in 1995 for Abilene I.S.D. where the Cooper High School Fiddlers played for TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) with Sony recording artist Mark O’Connor. Further concerts include performances with country recording artists Ricky Skaggs, Lee Ann Womack, the opening of The National Cowgirl Museum in Ft. Worth, Texas and for First Lady Laura Bush.  The fiddlers recorded three cd’s and four music videos in a span of 6 years and performed from San Francisco to the New York City Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Mark performed for the Rockbox Theater (Fredericksburg Texas) from 2008 – 2011 as a member of the cast.
