Coming off his first release, a remix of a Sam Smith cover of a Whitney Houston song which charted at #21 on the Hype Machine's most popular remix list, Mark is adamant about bringing forward an amazing song that the masses haven't yet experienced rather than spring boarding from a well-known single. 
 
It seemed like destiny when—while flipping through the channels—Mark happened upon a Mumford & Sons performance featuring one of his father's favorite musicians, Emmylou Harris. Moved by their performance of "Where Are You Now," Mark knew instantly that it was a song he would one day remix.
 
Mark states, "The message behind that song is so real; adaptable to most everyone. Who doesn't think of a lover from the past once in a while and wonder when, how often, or even if you ever cross their minds at all? I just wanted to make the music around the song a little more happy, less serious and, well... more chill."

Mr. Big - To Be With You (MARK CHILL remix)

Here comes Mark Chill’s new take on the early 90’s rock ballad smash hit “To Be With You” by LA’s own Mr. Big of Atlantic Records. Coming off his #2 Hype Machine Popular Charting Mumford & Sons “Where Are You Now” remix, Captain Chill is back with another out of left field song selection striped down and built back up with his modern tropical twist.

“I recently bought a boat to have a place to get away and attain the actual tropical/sunset house lifestyle as I produce that genre of music. The end result was my latest remix composed out of Marina Del Rey, CA. The scenery and on the water experience brought on a strong nautical underlying theme to this remix. (Boat horn samples included.) My instrumental breaks carry what I called a very Gilligan’s Islandy type vibe to it that should make you feel some type of way. I’ve heard the best ears in the business say the greatest music should always take you to another place. With this remix I really tried to sonically get you on the boat with me cruising down the Pacific coastline without a care in the world."

I put the crazy good talent of Alexandra Govere on the track to give it more life and I thought the song from a girl’s prospective could be different and fresh. Alexandra’s got this great accent which pronounces words with this type of exotic twist and I knew it’d fit perfectly on top of this song. The chorus has a much more uplifting sound with her vocal veil on top of it.

This remix for I did for The Vantage’s “Place In The Water” is a prime example of my production integrity and originality. This indie band out of Austin, TX sent me the original song wondering if I’d consider doing a remix of it. I was all over it right away. The lyrics and story were a perfect fit for my chill/summer style of production. Still keeping a lot of the indie-rock feel of the original, I think I did a good job at fusing our two sounds together to make a fresh new sonic experience.
