Markeisha Ensley is a NY based composer-lyricist, vocalist and performer originally from Aurora, Colorado. Markeisha is currently a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and was awarded the Abe Olman Scholarship Award for Excellence in Songwriting from the Songwriters Hall of Fame/Songwriters Guild of America. She has also been recognized by BMI/Songwriters Association of Washington, where she performed at the Smithsonian Museum alongside legendary Motown songwriter, Lamont Dozier. As a composer, she writes songs for theatre that are influenced by her soul, gospel and jazz roots. Most recently, Markeisha has created several one-woman concert shows, performing the music of Nina Simone and showcasing the evolution of black music from early gospel to present day soul/R&B.

As a singer-songwriter, Markeisha has released 2 EPs, toured in Japan and Europe and regularly performs in the NYC and Hudson Valley areas. Her other love is service through music! Markeisha works with Music For All Seasons where she facilitates songwriting workshops with veterans and teens in detention centers, has performed concerts with LifeBEAT, and worked as a teaching artist in NYC public schools.
