Leng Records is kicking off its 2019 release program by offering a debut to a previously unheralded producer from Russia’s fast growing nu-disco underground. Given the quality of the two original tracks on show on his first Leng outing, something tells us that we’re going to be hearing much more from Moscow-based Takovoi in the months and years ahead.

On the A-side you’ll find “5-2-9”, an effortlessly dreamy and Balearic affair that ebbs, flows and slowly unfurls over six spellbinding minutes. The track is built around a chunky, acid style bassline and loose, delay-laden drum machine beats. Yet it’s the drifting and dubbed-out musical elements that cluster around the groove – leisurely keys, yearning trumpet solos and kaleidoscopic, arpeggio style synthesizer melodies – that make “5-2-9” such a magical piece of music. Think of it as a statement of intent.

Takovoi’s love of TB-303 style acid lines and mind-altering electronics comes to the fore on “The Fox With The Dog” which sees the up-and-coming producer give his take on the timeless electro sound. It’s as spacey and atmospheric as you’d expect, with exotic electronic refrains and glacial synthesizer lines dancing across the sound-space. The groove – a combination of punchy drum machine hits, heavy acid-style sub-bass, occasional bursts of hand percussion and breakbeats – is pleasingly heavy, too, making this particular electro excursion a bona fide dancefloor delight.

Continuing off the success of his inaugural release from last year, label head and Bolting Bits colleague @IgorBMusic is set to come out with another record on his percussion-loving Canadian label, @BreathingRoomRecords. This time around he has chosen to spotlight a new project from Switzerland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist @Lokke. For the EP Aquarius, Lokke has decided to operate under the whimsical name of Bixi in an effort to push out more sample & house-oriented tracks than the downtempo and jazzy originals he's come to be known for. In total, this record will contain 5-tracks with a goal to jettison listeners closer to the equator with groovy rhythms that will instantly transport you somewhere beachside.

If we had to pick the original that best accomplishes this goal, we would have to say it's the track we are premiering for you today. Titled Cosmic Water, one will hear an assortment of slap-happy basslines and swelling synths that are complemented by an assortment of both expertly sampled and finely performed parts - making it the most dancefloor friendly tune of the bunch. However, what really rounds out the piece is the collection of bird calls and fluttering flute rhythms that are at the forefront of the song from beginning to end. If any fans of Brazilian jazz and samba are reading this, you will certainly feel at home the second the tune is played.

The Rascals of the Leipzig-based Old New Records Gang are joining forces this winter with allies and friend who share the same love for this wonderful thing called Groove. It's a digital release with twenty tracks, twenty perspectives, twenty grooves that join forces and culminate in the label's very first sampler. Under the flag of FXXK GENRES, the tracks are part of a musical spectrum that ranges from soft to hard, fast to slow, quiet to loud. The label is very proud that it can bring together so many talented and experienced musicians and at the same time illuminate the output of its own members. This also underlines the label's claim to support every artist who lives for the music - whether undiscovered or already known. And another hint - no synthesizer was harmed during the creation of this sampler! ;)
