MR002 sent in direct from Brno covers a sub-scape of sounds reflecting a current shift in the scene. Count’s sophomore EP showcases a versatile and refined style both in idea and application. Brno’s newest emergence has already had a hand in much that the scene has to offer. Between being a resident/booker at filtr and a regular host on Infame Radio, many have heard count playing at other venues such as Vitamin, Fraktal, and Ankali.

Taking form over a range of bpms, three original tracks accompanied by two remixes come together to shape this tightly knit project. The first track on the EP aptly named “WORK” is an enigmatic drum puzzler highlighted by the familiar voice of Missy Elliot. The track also comes as break-y dance floor heater when remixed by Brazilian -> Berlin based producer/DJ alys(alys)alys. Moving forward to “SPLIT”, a slow stepping wub of a track that is sure to take even the most menacing systems to the red. Stocked with its fair share of change ups, the track also gets tuned to run quick in a remix by Australian producer Lithe. The remix features a rendition of the track reminiscent of a calmer time, although still with its full share of sub attacks. The EP closes with the more introverted rhythm of “STICK N POKE”. This final track finds its niche within the opening or closing of a set when atmosphere is at a premium.

COUNT - WORK [MR002]

Markham Road Records is back steering steady with atch22, Count, Rizla Ops, and Teqmun in the driver seats. MR003 finds form as a quartet of percussion providing some real bang for your buck. This release was dreamt up for quick stepping activity, and the four tracks assembled provide a wide ranging toolkit to get us all moving. Although each artist provides a unique solution, movement was and remains the underlying idea behind this third release. 

Count’s “Hexagon” opens the project up with a spaced out ‘builder’ that seems to continuously fold in on itself. The track progresses through its 4 minute lifespan with natural and intuitive progression. With its sub heavy cadence “Hexagon” seeps through the speakers, and is sure to remain reliable when used under many circumstances. 

The second track of the release rebounds in as a ricochet rhythm from none other than London based RIZLA OPS. After receiving a demo titled “voo kah” we knew it was love at first sight… and the final iteration aptly named “Cortex” does not disappoint. When asked about the track RIZLA OPS shared “The triplet snare is locked in by a big roomy kick that squares it into that tool-y club space I notice my recent productions are exploring. Cortex finds its name in the buzzy bitcrushed bass that draws from ghosty drill, loose audio jack and ASMR machinery that buries itself in the cranium.” A steady mover with a circular undertone, it doesn’t take much to get moving when this track takes over the system. 

“sexta feira” finds itself on the borders of trance, dembow, and dubstep. Besides these initial patterning queues, atch22 also employs a variety of vocal stabs and modulation to keep the track moving. After a recent move to build a studio in Strahov Stadium (would definitely suggest looking this one up), atch22 has been back behind the monitors, with this track being the first product of his new musical home. The track defines itself in the world of peak time frequencies and fluctuates through a wide range of feelings. Truly something in it for everyone. 

MR003’s concluding track takes sonic blistering to a whole new level. Teqmun’s masterclass in unrelenting percussion continues to capture our hearts, and surge through our speakers. “Stop Scanning the Zebras” is a fast paced tech heavy track centered by vocals from the producer himself. “I imagined being so out of your mind that you can't stop trying to scan zebra's like barcodes with a scanner”. This track is easy to get lost inside of and therefore evokes some sort of free fall -> an exercise in letting go for eager ears in dimly lit spaces.

Bristol based producer Elpac has been emerging onto the scene at quite some pace. These past two years have introduced a host of releases to the artist’s toolbox and there’s no sign of that slowing down. Markham Road Records is happy to announce Elpac’s fourth full EP in the form of a colossal speaker weight ready to test your home system and your neighbours ability to put up with it. Boasting a strong five track makeup, the EP lands true with three original tracks and two remixes from E-Saggila and Henzo.

Starting from the beginning, ‘Late Night Bribe’ works as a call to action. With heavy sub sections and some (catchy) vocal chops, this track cuts straight to the point. Now that we’ve gotten started, Elpac dives right into a focused take on mutant dancehall with a rather metallic cut called ‘Rap Smoke’. The track falls at a mid-nineties bpm just like most other components of the EP but starts to will on a feeling of faster pace that continues to speed up in ‘Unhinged (Decour)’.

Late Night Bribe’s first remix comes correct from Manchester’s Henzo. A bumpy cut of UK garage willing to take a chance on almost every dancefloor. Toronto based innovator E-Saggila took a spin with the EP’s first track ‘Late Night Bribe’ resulting in a saturated journey that beautifully reflects the project storyline. We decided to include a little love note from the artist himself to keep things cordial (just like the project was intended to be).

“Both Rita and James are massssive inspirations in my music and it’s such a pleasure to have both of them involved. I think they both fit so perfectly with the body of work and also represent the sound I love so much” (Max)

Elpac - Late Night Bribe [MR004]

DJoy (@d_djoy) aka Joy is a Munich-based DJ and host of the monthly radio show “Joyride” on @radio80000. Influenced by her roots and time abroad, DJoy’s signature sound reflects warm Brazilian influences, street soul, house and Japanese gems. We’ve been longtime followers of DJoy, specifically intrigued by her rare selection of Brazilian influenced/made electronic music. Anyone who’s had the chance to catch her behind the booth will know how quickly those sounds light up the dance floor. In this mix she dives deep into bass music genres like baile funk, hard drums, and drum n bass from a cluster of recent releases straight from Brazilian producers.

SIM pushes the boundaries in Dancehall, Techno and UK Garage fusions. His work has been noted around the world, from the US to Jamaica, to the UK, highlighting key elements of the Hardcore Continuum. Taking up the sound theories of Lee 'Scratch' Perry, King Tubby and Dave Kelly or Techno pioneers such as Plastikman or Jeff Mills, SIM explores the relationship between space, body and sound.

It was in 2018 with the release of 'Pu$$ycat' with the Catalans duo Crimen Pasional that SIM was heard on a global scale. Since then, the Montreal producer has released more than 50 works, including several collaborations with 45Diboss, Epic B and Toumba, as well as remixes with Poirier, Leïla Lanova and Mina, among others. SIM was able to undertake several tours, including an American one in 2018, as well as in Europe in 2019, 2022 and a next one in 2023.

His latest releases include ‘Trance End’ on the French Label Riddim Supplies,  'SINNAZ EP' with the Colombian via Mexico NAP on the ISLA Records label, 'Hollow' on the NH V/A Vol. 4 by Nervous Horizon, and 'Terminate EP' on the same label.

Czech label Markham Road Records comes in correct with a first release in the form of a nine track VA spined by frequent collaborators of their sister platform @infameradio. This track from Berlin based producer FM Pause - @fmpause drives home a percussive club-ready energy fit for any head banging occasion. Dropping October 5th, the whole VA will be available for purchase via Bandcamp or for streaming via Soundcloud.

A lil' Sunday listening could never be complete without the wonders of psytrance. After recently finding their synergy, Prague based Marie Pravda and Kobayashi Maru have joined together on numerous joyful occasions. Spinning and spiralling rhythms have been the by-product as this duo  continue to step into the booth. This specific recordings comes not so live (but very direct) from this past years Amphibian x Nite Vibes party, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do :')

When Marie Pravda settles into a DJ booth she’s there to spark some chemistry with those willing to embrace it. While she is perfectly capable of generating similar energy into her recordings for the online world, it’s the endless push & pull with the physical crowd that charges her selection and mixing. 

Developing into an avid digger during long shifts in gloomy basements and online, the Prague-based DJ and DIY promoter took the Czech scene by storm with her savage take on a growing range of club music – be it with selections from her trippy or dance folders. In 2020 she joined the resident collective of Ankali & Planeta Za where she runs her regular Planeta Pravda club series.

Kobayashi Maru is a Prague-based DJ, producer and resident of the Amphibian label. You could catch him spinning decks at venues such as Planeta Za, Vitamin61500, F2 Salo and Bike Jesus. Starting from the beginning, ‘Late Night Bribe’ works as a call to action. With heavy sub sections and some (catchy) vocal chops, this track cuts straight to the point. Now that we’ve gotten started, Elpac dives right into a focused take on mutant dancehall with a rather metallic cut called ‘Rap Smoke’. The track falls at a mid-nineties bpm just like most other components of the EP but starts to will on a feeling of faster pace that continues to speed up in ‘Unhinged (Decour)’.

Late Night Bribe’s first remix comes correct from Manchester’s Henzo. A bumpy cut of UK garage willing to take a chance on almost every dancefloor. Toronto based innovator E-Saggila took a spin with the EP’s first track ‘Late Night Bribe’ resulting in a saturated journey that beautifully reflects the project storyline. We decided to include a little love note from the artist himself to keep things cordial (just like the project was intended to be).

Over the past few years, Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based DJ Eros has steadily refined an eclectic and singular sound steeped in variegated rhythms and leftfield sonics. With a penchant for all things warped and percussive, their unpredictable sets often snake through various genres and tempos, encompassing everything from mutant bass and drum-coated club to fractured techno, dancehall, juke, and more. These boundless interests spurred them to launch Ring Flip, a genre-agnostic night at Bossa Nova Civic Club that has played host to some of the most talented and individual DJs in New York and beyond.
