Ten years, Crikey ! ... I was in a train of thought the other day and I remembered a song where you wrote of Glasgow. I thought of it again this evening and here we are...it's still up here. The first two verses puts me firmly in place, damp overcoat and wooly hat. Probably that it's so evocative of place that it has stayed in the back of my mind somehow. Great to hear it again Mark.

This is so beautiful Mark, so full of nostalgia and tradition. And I really like the 'wooly sock' sound. It is warm! Sometimes so much better than the crystal clear recordings of today. Your lyrics always very poetic and picture painting.  Another thing is capturing me: All of these answers of you to comments of vanished comments of vanished people, that so metaphoric of life itself.

Steve reposted so I checked out this golden oldie that sounds like a beautiful trad folk song. You really should write and record more mate.  I love your vocals and harmony. What you call a wooly sock, to me its huggy warmth, my kinda sound. I believe singing the songs that we create brings out the emotion. And heres the evidence me lord. Excellent.

Once more while Im here....As marvellous as your collabs are, believe me, you should start writing and recording again. What you got to lose? Enjoy the process.

I was honored when https://soundcloud.com/graphicsontelevisions asked me to remake ‘Tattlesnakes’ from their fantastic album ‘Pun’. Maybe it’s the wildest one, unpredictable but coherent, it inspired me immediately !!

I've remixed to my taste their original studio stems (drums & keyboards), adding my own vocals, guitars & more... hard recommendation of headphones again !!

Lyrics are from another of my ancient poems, where I played with oxytone & eproparoxytone rhymes (translated below but with lost effect in English).

This is actually the third version of the song. I felt the original idea I’d roughed out with the keyboard and computer could be more interesting. So I reworked the whole track again (twice) adding several ‘hooks’. These were some vocal ‘stabs’, some keyboard/synth riffs as well as writing ( what I hope ) is a more interesting bass line. I beefed up the drum section too. I hope the fun I had creating it is reflected in the overall vibe of the track. Having said all this, the question is: did it actually work?

I wanted to write a song about a sense of belonging, but not just about our place of birth since many people through circumstances of work, relationships and even political regimes find themselves making a home for themselves elsewhere. Sometimes we all need to know that we are wanted and welcome. Some places seem better than others at making people feel at home, by embracing a stranger without suspicion.

All that remains, 
Are the shipyard gates, 
And skeletal cranes, 
Of a bygone age, 
And a long-gone industry.
