Hard to believe this was once an old folk/pop song 'cause this sounds akin to something Steely Dan might have done way back when.  Brilliant arrangement and production and so ideally suited to your vocal style, Mark.  Magnificent work from all involved.

After our first collaboration - https://soundcloud.com/markjbennett/set-me-down-that-road-rplanesmjbennett - Rodolfo offered me a challenge in the form of a decades old song (in a folk/pop style, complete with tape hiss) that he was updating with a platform that is closer to R&B and my task was to come up with a new lyric. This original break-up song had an air of a happy ending to it, though initially I chose to write something less optimistic… however it became clear that with the new arrangement my words had to match the original mood. The added bonus to this is that I now have another break-up song lyric available for the future.
Singing a song that had already existed in another form meant that I had to find a very personal interpretation in order to make it truly mine. A huge thanks to Rodolfo for sharing his inspiring music with me.
