Catchy steely danesk chords over a disco-like groove. Like the bass and your vocal sound fits the instrumental like a glove. The lyrics intrigue me: it's a very actual theme in The Netherlands right now because of a new book by a popular author (Rutger Bregman) about 'moral ambition'. This song is the first The Eclectic Collective has done with Mark, and we all had a great time making it with him. This song started with Mark, who is a bass player's bass player, giving his raw bass track to Ken, who brought it to the group. Ken laid down his exciting drums to match Mark's bass line before anything else happened, though. Once we had a rhythm section, JJ laid down his dancing electric piano. Once that was in place, Josh laid down the organ. Then it was time for the guitars, played electrifyingly by both Tez and Stephen. Tez plays throughout most of the song, and Stephen added his part towards the end. Stephen also mixed this for us expertly, as always. If you have a beverage in your hands, you might want to set it down. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

A few months before my dear friend and collaborator Pat Howell passed away, he shared a chord progression with me (heard at the beginning) that became the song's foundation and wanted to see if I could make something of it.  I fleshed out the progression into a song, but by then he had become too ill to help me finish it.  The song languished for months and then I thought maybe Seagull could finish the thought Pat and I started.  His additions were superb and not only completed the song, but a weave of friendship that started with Pat's inspiration. Rest in peace my friend, and thank you dear Seagull for making our initial weavings a reality.

Weave Of Friendship

My friend and close collaborator @rplanes offered me this great arrangement and the title and theme that he thought might make an interesting subject matter. Initially, I was scratching my head as the topic seemed too vast but then the ideas started to attach themselves to his melodies and I was hooked. Humans en masse appear to be taking wrong-turnings and making things worse rather than better. This is me letting off a little steam with Rod's help. Thanks for taking the time to listen.

I've been making music for around 15 years now but because of the wonderfully generous community that is SC, I have learned so much in a short time. I look forward to learning even more by collaborating.
