Brooklyn based Mike Isai joins the onedotsixtwo family with two red-hot progressive gems, Alya and Chrysalis.  Fellow New Yorker and ODST alumni, Mir Omar, takes on Alya, while Aussie legends GMJ & Matter give us their unique take on Chrysalis making this a complete onedotsixtwo family release. 

Although a relatively new name on the progressive scene, Mike Isai has certainly hit the ground running, with highly praised releases on the legendary Hope Recordings, and a recent EP on current label du jour Meanwhile Recordings. Growing up in New York Mike was exposed to electronic music from a very early age via his siblings who introduced him to Sasha, Digweed, Danny Tenaglia and the like and soon after, at the age of sixteen, decided he wanted to create his own sounds and hasn’t looked back since. 

First up is ‘Alya’ with an infectiously deep groove, shimmering keys and understated yet powerful acid undertones. ‘Chrysalis’ follows with a growling energy and tribal rhythms complimented by atmospheric hypnotic chants and sweeping effects. Mir Omar takes on Alya to great effect, adding intricate layers of percussion and brining a peak time feel to the piece. GMJ & Matter tackle Chrysalis bringing their signature euphoric big room sound and rounding off a stunning EP in style.

The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Kostakis to the label for his debut EP. The South African artist first appeared in 2014 on Get Physical with the Beatport chart success 'iKalimba'. With the backing of Adriatique, Pete Tong and Solomun, Kostakis has since showcased his music via Chapter 24 Records and KATERMUKKE. Now landing on Movement Recordings, the Cape Town resident presents his 'Ithaca' EP, alongside remixes from Matchy, Paul Anthonee and Chris Sen.

Beginning with the title selection Kostakis explores a contemporary astral narrative. Tough beats and a chugging groove sit at the foundation while haunting pads and spacey arps descend over the framework. Fluid and cosmic in equal measure, rugged rhythms push momentum into a tense yet emotive break, before tasteful modulation peaks and striking stabs cue a powerful finale. The companion piece 'Ithaca' follows a similar sonic ethos and sits as a perfect complement to its predecessor. It's rolling groove is not only powerful but perfectly contoured, adorned with fiery percussion and ethereal effects. Astral fragments and pensive arps drift across the framework while dramatic overlays continue to build tension into the break. Cavernous yet striking, the centerpiece melts down to an effervescent sizzle, as a gentle rush sparks a driving final movement.

The lone interpretation of 'Telos' is provided by Matchy who makes his label debut. The Berlin based producer has been a creative force in the melodic house and techno scene. Releases on BeatFreak Recordings, KATERMUKKE, Stil Vor Talent and Suara highlight his discography while a unique DJ style has seen him continually delight crowds at Sisyphos and Katerblau. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Berlin resident leans closer to peak time territory, with a reworked groove and rolling rhythmic core. Vocal loops and piercing effects sit atop a layer of tonal tension, perfectly setting up a break that is both illuminating and emotive, before ultimately shifting energy into a fiery finale.

In recent years, Prisma Techno has revealed to the world great Brazilian artists, mainly through its already established annual collection 'Evolution'. It was thanks to this policy of open doors to new talents that allowed the label to participate in the Dogma project's successful trajectory since its birth in February 2018, with the track 'Morphosis'. Since then the duo formed by Gleisson and Clovis has been taking higher flights, having their tracks released by important European labels, such as the Spanish Awen Records and the Greek Us & Them Records, as well as other participations in Prisma Techno releases, such as remix made for the Italian track Aree, 'Six Degrees'.

We are living in a moment of several global transformations, and these changes reflect in the sound identity of Dogma, which in its new EP 'Transmutare' invites us to reframe our way of living. The alchemy transmutation turn lead into gold, a secret language used to refer to the process of enlightenment, with fire as its leading agent. We, as humanity, are trying to understand what has just happened and make peace with these intense times of challenges. We are learning to transmute this anxious energy, which is our prime matter.

The release features two original melodic techno tracks. The title track 'Transmutare' has strong indie dance influences on its drums, progressive groove, slightly saturated synths and an emotional break. In 'Prima Materia' we find elements characteristic of his most recent productions, intense beats and percussive effects accompanied by a mysterious atmosphere, surprise vocals that develop until an energetic break. Without a doubt this EP is a watershed in Dogma's career.
