Frank Hogan and Jack Grant were out having a pint
Down in ol Fiddown bout a hundred years ago
No hurting anyone, just keeping to there own
When eight black and tans walked through the door
 
“EVERYBODY OUT” screamed the sergeant and all the smart ones go
But Frank and Jack keep singing in the corner soft and low
The sergeant says to Francie Meade the keeper of the inn
“Who are these drunken bastards singing songs bout fenians?”
“Yer grace” says good ol Francie “that’s Frank Hogan and Jack Grant
And you cant kick them out its Frankies da that owns the land”
The sergeant said to Francie “you don’t tell me what I do
I say the filthy Irish bastards need to learn a thing or two
 
Eight against two so about a fair fight
But Frank and Jack got the raw end that night
Out on their asses and into the rain
Themselves alone and their pain
 
“now get my boys your finest and remember this is true,
If you ere cross me again Francie, the next time will be you”
They settled in to make their plans but didn’t get too far
When two drunk men with masks and guns came storming in the bar
The cannons roared and rifles pealed, the bullets how they flew
The sergeant caught one in the head and in the chest took two
His men all died around him and the masked men got away
And Francie Meade by gods good grace alone survived that day
 
Eight against two, eight against two
But now Frank and Jack got the drop on you
The whole platoon down to the man
the streets ran red black and tan
 
Now Francies bar was shot to shit his bottles blown to bits
He sent the crown a letter with a bill to pay for it
They sent him reparations and with maybe half a smirk
he up and hired Jack and Frank to do the work.
