Memories From Somewhere

This is my first attempt at ambient music. I was going for spooky video game music, but I ended up with something more relaxing, something you could meditate or even fall asleep to. I could still kind of see it as intro music for a creepy game, but almost all of the comments I've gotten say it's really soothing. Go figure. 

This was my first time really working with dissonances, so I wasn't sure just how much I could get away with. Next time I strive for something unsettling, I'm going to amp up the dissonances and try to really spook out my listener.

There are days when we are overwhelmed with so much emotion that we run around like headless chickens, days when we are just so broken that we sit in a corner of a room sobbing about things we’ve gone through, about something or someone we desperately want in our life but seem to be so out of reach and the other days we are just in the middle, left sitting with a floating heart.

What started as a thought experiment — maybe try writing something less depressing, so working on it isn’t so grueling? — sprawled out into this new 14-track album of sunny, borderline beachy vibes. 

It’s a night-and-day shift from Northern Stories (2021), with the artist name maybe being the sole connective thread between the two (well, that and some debatable mixing/mastering choices). Whether that’s a good thing — eh, that’s up to you. (I like it, anyways.)
