Weird Girl

A little ode to that cheesy eurotechno hit from the late 90s ((http://youtu.be/b-B2W1PuuWY). The idea for this cover started off as a joke with my girlfriend while we were standing in line at a Pinkberry. The original song came up and I started to sing along for kicks. I told her that I'd cover the song and she just laughed but I was serious.

Better Off Alone (Alice DeeJay Cover)

"At Fault" is a collaboration with my good friend Hiro Makino aka "There Is A Fox" (https://soundcloud.com/thereisafox). The song's early stages consisted of a re-arranged and re-sampled There Is A Fox original called "Bad Day." Hiro then graciously provided additional guitar tracks and layers to the sampled arrangement. We went back and forth adding and subtracting elements until we came out with this end result. This track was initially planned to be released with the new Spazzkid EP, but ended up wanting a life of its own. It stands for itself, pure and beautiful.

A quick cover I did last night of @FlyingLotus ' "Flotus" taken from his Ideas+Drafts+Loops release. I was really inspired by the loop and the chord progression that I thought I'd make my own version of it. I hope you guys like it! More music coming soon!

Here’s a complete re-working of Seiho's "I Feel Rave" that I recently finished. This track remains a personal favorite of mine from his remarkable 2013 release "ABSTRAKTSEX". Harnessing the energy and love I feel for “I Feel Rave” fueled my inspiration for completing this remix in a matter of hours, a feat that I rarely accomplish. I hope you all enjoy!
Also, I'm excited to be dropping my new EP "Promise" out July 8th on Magical Properties! This remix was made during the same time period as “Promise” so the palette of sounds is quite similar, so get STOKED!

As some of you may know, I've been busy working on a new full length and I have been collecting songs that would go towards the new album. This song was supposed to be one of them; but then I realized that this had a different vibe from everything else and could stand well on its own. Roughly made 6 months ago, this song features influences of things I've been listening to during that time: funk, disco and french house. This is a fun, upbeat song that I thoroughly enjoyed making. I hope this becomes the soundtrack to your Boba dates!

“You’ll Only Love Me When I’m Gone” is Mark Redito’s first single released since shedding his moniker, Spazzkid. Deep beats, obscure vocal chops, and modified harps ebb and flow throughout this dancehall-inspired anthem.
 
After the name change, Mark took a moment for personal and artistic reflection that lead him to deep creative growth and vision.  
 
Mark has been staying busy finishing an eclectic full length album due next year. All the while, he has created a new community, Likido (http://nesthq.com/likido). Likido is a curated series of events that intentionally spotlights creatives who come from POC, Women, and LGBTQ+ backgrounds. This supercharged series reclaims space and celebrates individuals coming from these marginalized communities. Gaining co-signs from @Skrillex and @FarEastMovementOfficial in its early stages, Mark is already proving his ability and impact as a tastemaker and activist.
 
This coming season, Mark plans to share more new music inspired by his journey while creating space for communities he cares about.

Everything Felt Right(onlytom Remix)

I met Isa on Soundcloud where she posts songs from her solo project, Skymarines. I instantly fell in love with her voice and left her a message for collaboration purely on impulse. She quickly responded and was excited about my proposal. From there I sent her the early stages of this song: a few bars of verses and a chorus. We then went back and forth and worked on the melody and the lyrics, editing and re-recording parts as needed. It was an enjoyable process and I was always excited whenever she came back with a new part. The final stages of mixing and mastering had me on the edge of my seat. I was thrilled at how the song sounded and how it all took shape.

I feel like this song really encapsulates that "young love" feeling-- reckless, with no care in the world. It's really hard to explain that feeling in words sometimes and I feel like this song, to me, has done that in a groovy, alluring way.

In terms of production, I'm very happy with how everything sounds. I'm particularly proud of the percussion parts; all of them were home made. I used everything from drumsticks, light switches, to glassware to produce these sounds. The vocals were recorded by Isa through her iPhone and then sent to me for processing. Everything was mixed and mastered by yours truly. 

Making this song was such a fun experience for me. I'm really happy to share it with you guys. Hope you all enjoy!

Candy Flavored Lips (feat. Skymarines)

7 or so years ago, a girl I was dating that time slipped an Eggboy single in a mix cd. His genuine lyrics, pop sensibiility and lo-fi experimental productions got me hooked pretty easy. I may catch a lot of flack saying this, but for me, he's one of the pioneers of "bedroom pop" in Manila. His music kept me company in long bus commutes and inspired me to pursue making my own music. I eventually became good friends with him worked with him (and still do) on music projects, which were all fun times!

My cover of his song "Desperate" sounded very much different from the original (taking a more UK vibe than the Electro jam original), but I do feel like the same spirit is there. Thanks Diego, hope you enjoy this one my dude!

As part of the ongoing weekly song share thing, I bring to you my track "Forgiveness". Like all of my instrumental tracks, I try to let it build and tell its own story. I usually have a clear goal of how a particular track would sound in the end, but in the case of "Forgiveness" the process was kind of randomly piecing together elements 'till they make sense. I had a few friends pre-listen to this song in its the early stages and had mixed reactions. But in the end, I just went with what feels and sounds right to me. Why call it "Forgiveness"? Mainly an afterthought, but I guess it was inspired by the song the sample was taken from.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Between the holiday hustle bustle and winter flu, I made this song. For those not familiar a 'Kokeshi Doll' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokeshi) is a handmade wooden doll, usually small and armless. My girlfriend gave me one to remind me of her which I always keep in my studio. I guess its a little something that reminds me of "love."

This track is another story: 'Kokeshi Doll' is a little sonic excursion through different emotional phases. Whenever I make music I try to be as open and as free as possible to explore different sonic avenues and I felt like I've did it with this song. Lately, I have been leaning towards music that have very powerful low end and I guess it became apparent in this track, which I'm quite happy of.

I am so excited with what the new year brings! Expect more tracks coming out soon and an album later this month! So stoked to share with you guys everything I have in store. Enjoy and thank you for keeping tuned!
