main thing about this is the fun to blow one of the cool Respiro* presets ... *(a physical modelling synth) with my Akai EWI breathcontroller. This preset delivers a kind of hybrid breath instrument, with a range from sounding like a bari sax in the deepest up to a harmonica in the higher register. 'Colour The Grey' is the first of 3 B-Sides off my debut single 'Been and Gone'. It's a chilled out, upbeat acoustic track with some lovely organ sounds. It has elements of Folk and reminds me of an early Oasis B-side. It's about someone's struggle with addiction and that there is always hope. Although not one of my grander songs, it's one of my personal favourites.

COLOUR THE GREY

a sequence of fourteen tracks based on borges' short story "the writing of the god", in which a prisoner becomes obsessed with the idea that fourteen sacred words are encoded in the fur of an animal (jaguar - tigre).

i explore the idea of encoded meanings by variously deploying 7/8 time signatures, percussion playing the track titles in morse code, granulated voices, duration (14 x 14 = 196 = 3m16s), resampling, feedback, and other less immediate means...
