This set is recorded while I participated in the so called Hidden Talents evening in Poema Raw, Utrecht. During this night, 12 DJ’s had to fill a 6 hour party with banging techno. Since I played in between of the funky techhouse and banging techno DJ’s, I tried to build with this short set a bridge towards the harder part of the evening. Enjoy!

Hidden Talents 2017-04-22

This recording is part of my 5 hour set which took place at a very tiny and cozy festival called Moestival. Since I had to play outside in a very relax environment, I decided to try to play something different than I used to. Therefore I played some funky and melodic tracks, combined with some darker slower tracks while I was working towards some more banging techno after the sun was set. Enjoy!

Markus (Formerly known as Markx) Dutch techno DJ from Utrecht, Resident at Hard Nekkig

Markus’ sound is characterised by the swinging and melodic, but up-tempo techno. After started as being part of DJ duo Foute Vrienden where they performed at illegal parties, house parties and clubs, Markus decided to start for himself. Performing as a solo DJ gave Markx the possibility to develop his own style and to position himself more in a way that suited him the best.

The techno Markus plays is especially influenced by Drumcode DJ’s like Adam Beyer, Enrico Sanguiliano and his fellow Dutchman Bart Skils. But also, Victor Ruiz, Skober and Gary Back were important in the development of the style Markus is playing nowadays. These influences are to be recognized in his dark, but melodic techno sets.

Nowadays, Markus is mainly to be found in his hometown Utrecht, while playing at several parties. With his energetic beats, people don’t hesitate to move when listening to Markus his sets. Therefore, he often became one of the closing acts at illegal parties to exhaust the crowd’s remaining energy. As a result, he is nowadays a resident DJ at the underground Hard Nekkig party.
