"Techno enthusiast since 2007. The real interest to stand behind the decks came in 2015. So much good music is out there from talented producers and nobody is playing them. Every DJ has their own style, but they never played what I liked and that's why I decided to start my own career. My sound has a lot of variety between Techno, Tech House, Minimal and Melodic Techno. Originally based in Berlin. The City itself, which is well known as one of the capitals of electronic music, had a big influence on me and formed my taste in music today. I Build up my sets, to give the audience a journey through sounds and emotions."

Boombox New Year`s Eve 2021 2022

Tresor Records remains one of the most pivotal and definitive labels and nightclubs in underground dance and electronic music. For years it has helped to cement the sound of Electro and Techno representing some of the most unique and innovative artists from across the spectrum of the genre.

Now what better way to celebrate and spotlight the label than by asking two of its latest signings to select their favourite releases from what is an expansive collection of music.

Jensen Interceptor and DeFeKT are two artists who know more than a thing or two about techno and electro themselves – unique and well established in their own right, they have just collaborated to release a new record via the Berlin label.

Together they have recorded an exclusive back to back mix which features music from the likes of Drexciya, The Advent, Joey Beltram, K-Hand, Dj Stingray and Jeff Mills.

For this episode of @DarkScienceElectro we check in with friend-of-the-show Rob Witschakowski, better known as @The-Exaltics

Starting in 2006 with the founding of the project by Nico Jagiella and Rob, The Exaltics have been a driving force in the popularization of the beloved genre we call Electro. The following year in 2007, after the inception of The Exaltics project, the duo created the label @Solar_One_Music - The imprint has released music from many amazing producers such as MSRG, Heinrich Mueller, Gesloten Cirkel, Obergman, Franck Kartell, Nullptr, Das Muster, ERP, Ekman, Gosub, and many more. In addition, there are a few sub-labels that are utilized as well, such as Between Places, Rattleznake, Unhöerbar. Markus Funke grew up in the Niederrhein area and now lives in Cologne. He came into contact with electronic music early on and found the synthetic sounds fascinating as a child. In these days he listened to BFBS on Sundays and recorded the English charts on tapes every week. In secondary school he went to the youth disco on Wednesdays in the youth cellar and came into contact with sounds from Mr. Lee, Simon Harris or S-Express; there he saw the first beginnings and saw what you can do with two 1210s and a mixer. Markus still accompanies the music today and spends a lot of time in his studio and runs his own radio program at www.sonus.fm. Markus has traveled a lot through the clubs in Germany and has gained a lot of experience there, which is reflected in his vinyl only sets today. His sets show his musical range and that's why he prefers to play long sets to pick up the audience where they are and take them on a trip. Markus played in numerous locations, e.g. Fusion, Charlote, Tresor, Griesmühle, Microclub, Poision, Tor3, Elektroküche, Bunker and many more, but he believes that a good artist cannot be judged by the clubs he has played in. After a few years away from nightlife it is time again to get more active and bring the sound of his radio show to the clubs. So far, Markus Funke has released his own tracks on labels like Logisim, Psycho Thrill Records and Form&Terra Records.
