After 30 years in the industry, Fractal Architect’s career continues to grow. Driven by a passion for music with depth and feeling, and underpinned by an unswerving attention to detail, this UK based artist is still performing at the top of his game.

Growing up in the musical melting pot of the 80’s and 90’s, where technological advances in sound generation created a new sonic canvas, the desire to innovate has always been strong. Influences ranging from Kraftwerk to Zappa, from Bach to Beck contribute to a unique sound that frequently defies genres.

MINI-INTERVIEW

What was the intention behind your set?
"My last gigs were often at night during prime time, so I tried to play harder melodic techno around 124 bpm. As I actually come from the downtempo / lower midtempo area, this was quite new territory for me. I realized that I feel comfortable at this speed, but that the deep and spherical still has a high priority for me, just like in my slower sets in the past. Nevertheless, I would like to capture this part of my process as a DJ in the form of a set and have packed the coolest songs for me from the gigs into this podcast. As I also associate this sound with "Dit Klingt Jut", it was a perfect fit for me. In the future, such bouncy songs will continue to appear in my sets, but in a balanced mix with melodic and deep pressing passages like my current favorite release from question 3 😉"

What was your most significant club / festival moment?
"As a consumer, I would definitely say the Kerala Dust gig at Acid Bogen at the end of 2017. I queued so long withg friends in the cold to see this concert. Of course, we didn't get in right then because there were too many people. But my best friend and I made another attempt after the others had left and went straight to the bouncer. She saw how much I wanted to see this concert and was kind enough to let us in. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and at the end of the set, everyone in the Acid Bogen had a sparkler in their hand and sang along, which I don't think I'll ever forget.

As a DJ: My performance at the Zeitlos Festival, organized on a field in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by friends from Hamburg. I got the sunset slot, my absolute favorite time. But it’s complicated when it rains all the time. During my set, however, the sun came out for the first time this weekend. And as ordered, the dark and light passages alternated simultaneously with these in my set. When 200 people danced the choreography of Iorie's "What is Downtempo" with me in the evening’s sun red light, I had a few tears in my eyes.

Kellerkind feat. Sven - Shakti Pan (Original Mix) (when I started playing at house parties in 2017, this song captivated me the most and was played in every set. I associate it with my first steps as a DJ and the times in my student flat in Moabit)"

Spotlight 026 | AHAB

My second festival this year and what a sweet little party it was❣️
Tumult im Fuchsbau, a festival that only spreads through word of mouth and at least here in the Rhineland provides a lot of good material for discussion. Everyone wanted tickets, but the festival can't grow any more and so some of the people out there had to miss out on this wonderful party. Those who were there, with you it was a mega party❣️ Beautiful souls with whom I was able to spend this weekend, simply hard to describe in words🙏❤️ 
Thank you for everything and at least for the world out there, here is my recording of my night set from the "Korallenwald" 😋❤️

Tumult im Fuchsbau Festival / Korallenwald // 08.06.24

After the first release on Audiomatique by The Chi Chi Squad, the second strike followed. This time, we had a very well known guy releasing three cool tracks on our new imprint.
It was Mr. Rob Acid, already rockin‘ da house on labels from the like of Disko B, Force Inc., Bpitch Control or Mille Plateaux.

He delivered a brilliant 3-track-EP, proving his strength for atmospheric, minimal electronic dance and chill music. Something in the middle of rollin‘ tech-house, abstract minimal house and relaxed ambient stuff. Tracks either to dance or to chill to. Everything was possible. And everything had a deeper meaning. Beside the point that all these tracks had one common denominator: They were all based on a Roland TR606 drummachine.

„Lidia“ was about the lust of life, about loving your life and the joy your life brings. This track was dedicated to all the people showing this joy and lust of life, this neverending motivation. Like Rob‘s daughter, whose second name was Lidia and who exactly stood for this brilliant motivation.
Slightly more floating, but in the same vein came „Taktrat“ on B1 while Love Rocket on B2 had a more straightforward melody and a strong Elektro-feel.
