I am a seasoned Guitar player focusing on acoustic guitar performances of famous songs from famous artists. After removing the backing music, I keep the vocals only, playing along with the guitar playing rhythm, bass and occasional lead guitar part simultaneously. I love creating these arrangements as this is the fun part of doing what I do as I attempt to back-fill the entire band performance. The result is a nice new version of a song with an unplugged feel to it. 
I find, program or play a suitable drum pattern that follows the original beat and that gives me the timing to play to. I also occasionally add an orchestral part using an Electro Harmonix Mel9 effects pedal that takes the guitar output and provides an orchestral fill directly off my playing.
