In the early 1990s MC Tunes was at the forefront of UK Rap, delivering niche music in to the top 10 and playing an important role in the development of British Hip-hop. 

Following the success of MC Tunes and 808 State’s critically acclaimed album "The North at its Heights", featuring the hit singles "The Only Rhyme That Bites" and "Tunes Splits The Atom", Tunes a.k.a. Nicky Lockett, signed his own deal with iconic Record Label ZTT and started work on his second studio album "Damage By Stereo". Recording began early in 1991 at Sarm Studios in London with the project being overseen by legendary British music producer Trevor Horn. Other notable contributors to the project included the Grammy award winning "Dust Brothers" and the late Soul II Soul vocalist Doreen Waddell. 

Despite the promise of the album it was never released due to a dispute between Tunes and his record label, resulting in Lockett paying back his advance and leaving with the master tapes. As Tunes moved onto other projects including the highly regarded cult band "Dust Junkys" the tapes sat gathering dust and were eventually lost. 

On 7th February 2015, 24 years after its recording "Damage By Stereo" is finally due to be released on Haçienda Records after Peter Hook was approached by MC Tunes and Tony Rigg. The album will be available via digital download and on limited edition CD. The release will also include a second CD featuring contemporary dance remixes of the original album tracks from established producers including 808 State's AndyBarker and hotly tipped emerging artists such as Purp & Soul's Mark Wells. Manchester artist Jay Ee-go, renowned for his Northern themed art, was commissioned to paint the album cover.

Manchester producer Mark Wells delivered an underground favourite when 'I Love You' debuted online last year. After over 40,000 plays at SoundCloud, radio play courtesy of Pete Tong and Radio 1 and further support across the European festival circuit from Ben Pearce, the track is set to reach its largest audience to date when the resurgent FFRR label will release it in May.

A deep house summer jam infused with sublime grooves and soulful vocals, 'I Love You' is sure to focus attention on Wells' prodigious talent and could well prove to be his major breakthrough.

Mark Wells first started work on his own productions as a teenager and now, at the age of 21, has already delivered breakthrough tracks for respected independent labels including Purp & Soul, Nurvous, Mother and Alive.

Low-swinging percussion and expertly placed vocal hooks are the hallmarks of his dancefloor-provoking productions such as 'In She Came' and 'Driven' Me' which ensure that his music stands out from the crowd. Wells' tracks have also featured on mix albums helmed by the likes of Ben Pearce, Endemic Digital label boss Wez Saunders and Ryan Briggs of City Soul Project.

After 8 years of producing, since the age of 13, Mark Wells has found steady ground with successful releases on Nurvous, Mother, Alive & Purp & Soul. Low swinging drums and masterfully places vocals consistently create his trademark sound. Infectious rhythm and hard hitting bass lines make sure his music stands out from the crowd. Marks ability to create a stand out song is impeccable, with releases such as “In she came” and “Drivin me” guaranteed to keep a dance floor moving. His DJ sets mirror his production with energetic performances. In 2012 Mark cut his teeth remixing UK bands “Kid British” and “We Humans” proving his versatility and creativity, in turn he now continues to be called upon for remixes, more recently by legendary house institution Strictly Rhythm.
