Live at CHUNK #2 - 07 Apr 2016

The Fringe and Underground Music Group at Goldsmiths launched a pamphlet/printed edition series entitled Spaces of Making. 

Based broadly on themes of physical, digital, social and conceptual/ideological space, the first run of pamphlets features contributions from artists and musicians Charles Hayward, Marlo Delara, Sharon Gal and Richard Phoenix. 

The launch event for the pamphlet series, co-hosted by The Lumen Lake, was held from 7:30pm on 11 May in the Lewisham Arthouse. Contributors will present their pamphlets, and there will be live sets from Lizzy Laurance, Grey Sea Over A Cold Sky and Scrounge.

PERFORMER ANNOUNCEMENT: Marlo Eggplant.

Born in Baltimore, MD, artist Marlo De Lara is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. Her research addresses subjects relating to the representation of marginalized populations and creative work as political action. Her artistic practice works within the realms of sound performance and film. Since the 2000s, her films and live improvisations have been screened and performed internationally. Under the Marlo Eggplant alias, her audio/visual compositions and performances aim to blur the definitions of the (un)intentional. As founder/organizer of the Ladyz in Noyz (LIN) international collective, an ongoing project from 2008 to the present, she continues to promote emerging artists/musicians who are women/LGBTQIA+/underrepresented. Born in Baltimore, MD, artist Marlo De Lara received a PhD in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. Her artistic practice works within the realms of sound performance, visual distraction, and film. Working under the moniker ‘marlo eggplant’, her sound art is a production of textural compositions which develop from microscopic tone landscapes into dense and expansive states of noise and drone. Her works aim to blur the definitions of (un)intentional sound and music. As curator and organizer of the Ladyz in Noyz (LIN) international compilation series/collective, an ongoing project from 2008 to the present, she continues to promote emerging artists and musicians who are women.

She has toured the United States extensively including the Victoria Noise fest (BC) , Norcal Noisefest, Denver Noise Festival, Outsound Series, Titwrench Festival, and various locally curated satellite International Noise Conferences.
