We welcome the duo MARMO to take us on our next voyage. Christian Duka and Marco Maldarella hold a musical relationship that spans boarders, allowing them to draw influence from a range of sources. 

Christian is no stranger to the Above Below family but under the MARMO alias, he sheds new light on his vast skill set. Alongside Marco, they experiment with improvisation and introspective emotional narratives. With past influences including Rock/Metal, the pair are not shy of pushing new boundaries. 

Recorded at Sinestesie(Italy) this mix weaves through downtempo and deep techno to start, progressing effortlessly into components driven by trance and breaks. It's a set that really captures the true essence of their unique style.

EMC atmospheres presents MARMO

As a collaborative project between @dvka and @marcomaldarella, MARMO was born out of friendship and shared passion for music-making. Starting off respectively as the electric guitarist and singer in a metal band nearly a decade ago, the pair have worked their way through various flavours of electronic music inhabiting someplace between ambient and dance music.
This is the recording of their most recent DJ set, performed at UK festival @abovebelowfestival on the 3rd of June 2023. Through this mix, the duo re-connected after a long time of physical dislocation. MARMO has always been a long-distance musical relationship, and their music constantly serves the purpose of maintaining, nurturing and solidifying friendship.

The blueprint of every single track came to us on stage in the midst of live improvisation. The actual "compositions" have been carefully arranged to maintain the original vibe.

La Via Della Seta is a symbolic journey of cultural, commercial and spiritual exchange in the never-ending path of finding the self. It is also an allegory of us working on our music from different countries, contributing to each other visions through very different personal experiences.
