I created EVIDENCE to celebrate the opening of the Band of Vices Gallery here in Los Angeles on May 12th. The gallery’s owners, Terrell and Victoria Tilford are among the loveliest people on the planet and have taken it on as their mission to create a context  in which they can not only sell works of art but, more importantly, they equally prioritize the nurturing of the artists they represent* (Full disclosure: I was one of those artists for almost a decade). Similarly, they are are all about delivering some of the best and brightest emerging artists to their clientele of collectors and museums while never failing to support and guide new collectors to make educated acquisitions for their budding collections… AND they care about the community they are in, so it’s just an admitted all-around love fest from me to them and I’m so happy to have been a part of so many of their projects in the past. The latest chapter with the advent of the Band of Vices Gallery is no different and I am SO exited to be a part of their magic this go-round, not as a visual artist, but as a DJ. Just a little exerpt from my choir rehearsal last night. For those who have expressed confusion about the incongruence of the weird Catholic school turned art school kid who ultimately became Buddhist who DJs professionally while simultaneously he enjoys his personal participation singing in several Church of God in Christ gospel choirs, well... I don't really know what to tell you other than my personal conviction that spirituality and creativity have always had a natural nexus. The thing is, nobody ever said that intersection had to make sense.

Choir Rehearsal (For The Good Of Them)

Marq Krysto is a DJ & digital media artist currently living in Los Angeles. While he is a relatively new DJ, he has enjoyed over three decades of producing a vast body of visual, literary and performance art for which he has garnered accolades worldwide and the respect and camaraderie of his contemporaries. 
In much the same way his DJ handle, ‘Marq Krysto’ is shorthand for his name, Mark Christopher, he has similarly coined the term ‘Revisionist Soul’ to describe his style which is a pastiche of infectious, house-driven grooves that draws upon the rich musical traditions he grew up with in his hometown, Detroit, Michigan, including Jazz, Gospel, R&B, disco, techno and his decided favorite, house.  
His process is all about reimagining these forms combining them with the latest in chic electronic music that he sources from around the globe to arrive resulting in his singular sound characterized by nuance, space, sophistication, narrative and occasional irreverence.
