With the year 2021 coming to an end, here is my last NDYUKA podcast of the year. This mix is recorded with a rhythmic state of mind. Fast paced as usual but more emphasized to the deeper and sexy grooves. A nice mid day groovy techno set where the simplicity of the rhythmic swing and track selection is the key point of the whole mix.

Ketikoti translated from sranan tongo to english is broken chain and manspasi dey means emancipation day. A surinamese annual celebration on July 1st each year. 

July 1st 1863 (officially 1873) is when slavery was abolished in Surinam. A day where freedom of our ancestors was finally realized. Those who have suffered so much for us to live free now. 

Freedom and peace is something we kindly consider normal but even now in 2022 we have modern slavery of the uyguhrs in China. Thousands of migrant workers dead in Qatar for the world championship of football, Palestina who suffer from apartheid until this day and war in Ukraine which all of a sudden came really close. 

Freedom is something we are blessed with. We should not take this for granted and enjoy life as much as possible. Be kind and good to people around you, it might be a small thing for you to do but it can mean SO MUCH for others.

On “IXIAN”, Tommy gives a hazy nod to his roots in drum n’ bass with a half time groove that splinters with meteoric sweeps and mangled vocals—a readout from beyond. The B-side is still stamped with Tommy’s impeccable attention to sound design, yet it turns downwards, mining cavernous and soul-penetrating depths. “CYCLES”, an aqueous four-to-the-floor cut that burbles with effervescent chord stabs, offers softer shades that spill into spectral ambient closer “AERIAL”. It’s a lighter side we rarely hear from the British talent, displaying his tenacity as a far-reaching, constantly evolving artist with a knack for bringing listeners into 47’s far-reaching otherworldly fold.

With this mix i've emphasized all the basics i find needed in my sets. 
Fast paced, groovy, edgy pound and mysterious hypnotic sounds on a consistent basis throughout the set.

Continuously trying to exceed his own limits, MARRØN employs fast rhythmics inspired by his roots. The artist’s moniker pays homage to the strong-willed Marrons, a once-enslaved African tribe who defied oppression and found freedom 
in the primeval forests of Surinam. The hypnotic, percussive beats characterizing MARRØN’s foundational Afro Deep style have evolved to form a singular conception of techno. His dynamic take on the genre is at home in the underground, most notably in his role as co-founder and resident of Amsterdam’s Eerste Communie. MARRØN’s capable command of groove, power, and texture is no doubt a convincing invitation to stay on the dancefloor for hours.
