Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition we welcome i.am.nãda (@iamnadamusic) & DÂNTE (@dantesdreamworld)

i.am.nãda & DÂNTE are DJ's and Music Producers, but, more than that, they are alchemists of frequency. 

Sharing a love for the esoteric mysteries of sound and vibration, they are in constant exploration of the power and potentials of music. 

i.am.nãda & DÂNTE have been working on a collaborative live project over the last couple of years, developing what they call their "Side to Side" set. Here they join forces as two distinct artists to co-create sonic dance floor journeys of shamanic nature. 

This mix for Magician On Duty is an extended 4 hr live recording from one of their recent shows in Medellín, Colombia.

🗯🗯 Which clubs / collectives are you connected to? 🗯🗯
My favorite places to play in Vancouver are Open Studios and Gorgomish. Before the pandemic and before it all came to a screeching halt, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to travel the world and play at some of the greatest venues in front of the most amazing crowds. Here is a little shortlist:

Kater Blau in Berlin, Village Underground in London, De Marktkantine (with the Gardens of Babylon/ Wild As The Moon crew), Woomoon/ Storytellers at Cova Santa Ibiza and the Papaya Playa Project in Tulum, Public Works in San Francisco and Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, HNGR in Beirut, and the lovely Rambalkoshe family in Yerevan.

Let’s hope things will get back on track real soon.

🗯🗯 What is the situation like for you at the moment during Covid? 🗯🗯
Well like everyone else, I had big plans for this Spring and Summer with tours all over Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States. But given the current situation, I’m here at home in Vancouver, Canada.

My life now exists in 3 days: yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It has definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions with lots of ups and downs. Some days I'm super motivated, inspired and I'm on top of everything. And then there are days that I have to drag myself out of bed and keep pushing myself to move forward. So it's definitely an interesting experience. I find myself being more grateful in regards to all the blessings that I have in my life, which helps me to be more mindful.

I’m keeping busy with different projects (both music related and also exploring other creative avenues), working on production, doing guest mixes, working on my channel Deep House Vancouver, and just finished working on a very special VA Compilation for one of my favourite labels - Stay tuned

Welcome Mixtape #166 by Gimérique

After getting to know each other on SoundCloud in 2013, Florian and Benoit today work in tandem to bring dreamy electronic music into the air with a narrative mix of both, deep and thriving elements. Under his Bigasti alias, Benoit released on imprints such as Steyoyoke, Lost Diaries or Einmusik and quickly got recognition in the scene thanks to his unique melancholic approach in electronic music. Floloco, Florian's DJ project, sticks less strict to only one electronic music genre. The theme that unites his sets or mixes, is that particular "Floloco" groove. After years of experience in electronic music as individual artists, Gimérique unites the signature sound of the two electronic music enthusiasts to a new chapter on their promising path in the electronic music scene.

It all started with a joint DJ set released on the globally respected Schirmchendrink mix show, which the two founded together in 2015. After several joint DJ sessions they felt it was about time to take the project to the next level: et voilà, Gimérique was born!

With their first collaborative production in 2020, Gimérique took Lerr's 'Hummingbird' into deep and dreamy territory. Groovy and emotive in equal measure it made an auspicious production debut for Gimerique on Sound Avenue's first edition of their 'Re:Imagined' remix series.

Gimérique's first original production, 'Calm at Heart', was released in Spring 2020 on Harabe Recordings and explores a more ambient landscape of their sound. 'Calm at Heart" entered the Beatport 'Organic House' Top 100 charts only one day after its release.

Full of ideas and inspiration, the diligent two holed themselves in the studio during the pandemic to start working on various ideas that have been brewing over the last years. It will be with sheer excitement that the two will finally be able to announce their upcoming projects, and it will be soon.

Florian and Benoit individually, are passionate about electronic music ever since they can remember. Together, they are Gimérique.

Mixtape #166 by Gimérique

On a glorious and unusually warm November afternoon, the little witch went for a gathering tour around the woods, accompanied by half a dozen of squirrels.  Global warming is also affecting the witch’s forest, although the effects are being tempered by the dense, lush vegetation.  Anyway, a mild and sunny November day is always pleasant, so it was the ideal day to collect some spices, nuts and mushrooms.  The squirrels knew what was going to happen so they happily interrupted their daily autumn routine of burying nuts all over the place.  The little witch cautiously picked some stinging nettles, dandelions and dwarf mallows from the side of the little stream.  After that she went to the section of the forest with the most majestic trees and the squirrels collected acorns and beech nuts for her (although all squirrels cheekily buried a few nuts for themselves in the process).  Finally, she treaded into the darkest and dampest section of the woods to gather a selection of mushrooms, mainly scurfy twiglets, chanterelles and suede boletes.
After collecting all these plants and fungi, she returned to the central glade of the forest at an unhurried pace, accompanied by a scurry of ebullient squirrels.  After depositing their trove, the squirrels spontaneously returned to the woods as they knew what would come next.  A little later, they returned with some firewood which they deposited at the feet of the little witch.  Then the forest dwellers waited until dusk, when the girl, with a gracious hand movement, created a little floating spark which lazily floated in the air until it landed inside the pile of firewood, setting it ablaze.  All the forest animals snuggled cozily together while enjoying the crackling campfire.  After a while, the fire faded out, leaving behind a small pile of glowing coals in the dark night.  During the afternoon the little witch had dried and pulverized all the plants, nuts and mushrooms she had picked in the woods, and now she gently threw the powder over the glowing pile of wood.  All the animals held their breath as they knew what was going to come.  Soon a column of thick smoke rose up from the fire.  This was the moment they had all been waiting for, the annual message from mother earth, projected on this smokescreen like every year on the 11th day of November.  Would they finally get the answers about the mystifying behavior of all humans, who in March abruptly stopped moving around with their cars and planes, giving a much-needed breather for planet earth to regenerate and purify itself.  Since then, all forest dwellers couldn’t stop wondering why the humans suddenly changed their way of living.  At first, they thought the muggles had become all of a sudden sane, but that theory was shattered after the people gradually reverted to their old behavioral patterns during the summer.  A popular theory among the forest dwellers was that the money printing press of the humans had broken down, effectively grounding the economy to a halt.  Another theory was that the oil well of the humans had run dry, leaving them without fuel to propel their vehicles and planes.  Meanwhile, slowly an image formed on the smokescreen, while all the animals held their breath …

Witchtape #83 | Guest Witch : Borella

This weeks guest is @al-duff from Singapore!

A.H.D. played his first set in 1990 after discovering his love for house music in the second summer of love 1988. Over the past three decades he has  played far and wide including New York, London, Ibiza, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Bali. His passion is for longer 6-8 hour sets, preferring the musical freedom of villa parties, island parties and after parties.  

Driven by the wonderful feeling of emotionally connecting with the crowd, he believes  that  dancers are as important as the DJs, as  they help shape the journey together.  Not a fan of DJ booths, when playing Cafe Del Mar in Phuket, his decks were always moved onto a table on the dance floor so that everybody is on the same level creating a unique and special vibe.

Marsha is an artist with a delicate taste and a unique sound who has found her own place in the world of deep electronic music. Based in Athens, she is running her own music club project called 'Marsha Invites" and has her monthly radio show on Cannibal Radio. Being a true Yoga lover, she is the co-founder of Music & Yoga Project. She is also organiser at Otro Mundo Gathering and curator at Christine Never Came club night project.
