Silly Thing

Here is a remixed, actually mastered version of a tune I did in 2005.  I've been wanting to redo the drums for some time now, also tighten everything up noise wise.  I'll also upload the original version so you can see just how far I took it.  

The mixing on this one went relatively smooth, taking a less is more approach.  I mixed this one in Reaper really only using Guitar Rig 5 and the "SSL" mixing plugs.  Also used a reflektor on an aux track, along with the "SSL" GR5 mixing bus compressor.

No Reason (remixed remastered)

This is the original version of the tune, recorded into Cubase VST 5 (yes the old, old, old one)  Completely over effected w/ chorus, delay, and verb.. Gotta grease the vocals!  

This was mixed and recorded in 2005, and yes I had no real idea what in the heck I was doing!  I really did like the result, however I knew I could do somewhat better, and I hope you agree that I did do better. (check out the remixed version for comparison)  Enjoy!

No Reason (Original Version)

Ok, here is the story on this one.  I wrote and recorded this about 2010 in the summer time I believe.  I tried to really limit myself, actually I recorded this entirely while beta testing 'Reason Limited'.  Go figure.  Being that this program was purposefully less feature rich, I couldn't do everything I thought of doing and had to think of a 'work around'.  I actually didn't have the time stretch feature so I had to fake it!:)

All the samples I got from a cpu music mag special, (mixing vocals or something?).  It said royalty free.. I said ok!  

So here it is... I've actually been meaning to upload it for quite a while.  Enjoy!

Also a thank you to Josh Mobley (jmob) as without the producing in reason/record tutorial I wouldn't really know what in the world I was doing.

Rhapsody In Dirt - work in progress

I was in a little band thing in the late 90's, with me and my good friend Ryan who did the vocals.  It was basically recorded in a combination of Cakewalk using midi only and a 4 track recorder.. ahh the days of running out of tracks, kind of mixing it, bouncing it, and recording it back into the 4 track.. not to mention high impedence connectors, cheap sounding condenser mics and distortion pedals.. Those were the days!  This was from our first CD - It's 9AM..   ---- please note, this song was not meant to be serious, everything was hand crafted to try to make a ridiculous "serious" song.. hey, it took over 20 minutes to find the explosion!

Went more of a rockin' route on this one, wanted to go a little heavier but still attempting to do it justice in the end.  Hope everyone enjoys it, I had a lot of fun with it!

Well, here we go., I was putting off updating this for quite a while, however I got a good kick in the pants a short while ago so I figured why not?  Quick bio, been playing for 20 or so years, and writing/recording music almost the entire time..  Maybe I'll dig some really old tunes out to share.. Hmmm..
