The Artist Concurrently Known As Jackmate has been already been indoctrinated into our cult since he signed onto he Pampa bookings roster awhile back. As SoulPhiction he is also co-founder of Philpot, the Stuttgart-based label, home to the majority of his releases over the past 10+ years. Anyway, we get the privilege of stamping the Turkey logo on SoulPhiction's first proper release of 2013, following his remixes for Murat Tepeli and Detroit Swindle. 'When Radio Was Boss' is a tribute to those magical electromagnetic waves that ruled yesteryear. With that prototypical Pampa percussion-rattling and clanking its way into the room-and a warm, round bassline bounce combined with some symphonic froth in the atmosphere, this track definitely demands airplay. On the dancefloor, at least! (And right in the middle of the track, catch the pleasantly jarring shout-out from WBAU, the call sign of the defunct New York radio station that counted members of Public Enemy and hosts of Yo! MTV Raps amongst its staff.) On the flip, the bpm gets cranked down just a bit for 'Maybachswagger"-If the A-side is a tribute to radio, the B has roller-skating on its mind. Starting out spooky with a sampled voice cooing over a slightly detuned bassline, the surprise comes in the final third, when a kawaii disco vibe drops in, seducing you onto the rink for a few laid-back laps.

DJ Koze unveils a spiritual and surprising journey into rapturous spheres with `Wespennest EP´. The visionary artist and master of electronic sound, presents his first own release after 2018's global club hit `Pick Up´.

`Candidasa´ and `Wespennest´ are the result of DJ Kozes inspiring stay in a secluded Benedictine monastery on the enchanting island of Sulawesi. Amidst this idyllic setting, he found the perfect environment to unleash his musical vision. He composed all of the music of `Candidasa´ while lying on his stomach, in an act of deepest devotion and self-reflection. In doing so, he fed exclusively on so-called heroin kebabs to immerse himself in a trance-like state of creative flow. The result is a soundscape of unimagined depth and beauty that enchants the senses and transports listeners to another dimension by massively increasing the frequency of flicker fusion.

On `Wespennest´ the wonderful Sophia Kennedy takes the stage and breathes a new dimension into the music with her impactful lyrics and vocals. With generous dedication, Sophia has provided exclusive excerpts of her yet unreleased songs, giving this track a radiant psychedelic power. The combination of DJ Kozes musical genius and Sophia Kennedy's glorious vocals creates a club track full of wonderment, opening up a mystical rapturous world for listeners. Already an instant classic of German dance music. 

With `Candidasa´ and `Wespennest´ DJ Koze has once again pushed the boundaries of electronic sounds and created a spiritual journey that touches the soul and frees the mind. Isolée's long and celebrated discography has taken him from seminal microhouse compositions, through lush, deep and dubby productions, to the melodically rich sound design of 2013 mindblowing Allowance. Any of this would be a tough act to follow, but the seasoned Hamburg talent takes it in his stride once again, looking firmly towards the future while paying tribute to all chapters of the past with the brand new two-tracker, Floripa EP. The title track Floripa' begins to take its form around a thick and dub-drenched bassline that moves and morphs with fluidity, as tiny percussive elements orbit around an instant-classic synth melody that appeals directly to the heartstrings. The track's midsection showcases airy, spatial sound wizardry, with shimmering cosmic riffs on the core melodic phrase that cement its anthemic status, the latter third then subtly shifts gears again, amplifying the bottom end, and rooting it into a deep, urgent groove. B-side Favouride' begins to unfold with metallic percussive accents and spectral, voice-like synths that immediately establish the track's deep blue mood. A minor-key bass chord and windswept pads maintain the atmosphere throughout the track's mid-tempo, slow-burn progression. Smooth and sleekly produced, yet introspective and complex, the multi layers of rhythm and melody combine here for extra emotional impact.

Closely following the release of her critically acclaimed album ‘Valor’, trained musician Dinky releases the second single from the album on Crosstown Rebels. The stunning ‘Slowly’ also gets the remix treatment from fellow Panorama Bar favourites and Berliners Matthew Styles and Radio Slave.

‘Slowly’, like most of the tracks on the album is centred around Dinky’s illustrious vocals. Resident Advisor said of the vocals “[I can see that I'm losing you slowly] is as poignant as the song's fragile piano”

Matthew Styles is a highly respected DJ and producer who as the first label manager of Crosstown Rebels has since made his way as a producer in his own right releasing on the likes of Ostgut Ton and his own Running Back that he runs with Gerd Janson. His remix takes the song to euphoric heights with it’s infectious bassline and impressive disposition. Dinky reveals that “Matthew knew the song and its meaning so well that he captured its spirit perfectly.”

Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave is also back on the label since his highly celebrated remix of Aphrohead last year. Owner of Rekids, Matt recently released ‘Vision’, which celebrated ten years of the label. Here for his first remix he delivers a pulsating beast, intricate in its ethereal chords and vocals. For his second remix he conjures a stripped down, minimalistic version with broken percussion and fervid synths for a beautiful and compelling effect.

 “La Duquesa”, the most tender and most refined piece of the album Amygdala, perfectly casual and serious, deep and euphoric, all at the same time, is dedicated to the Spanish Duquesa de Alba, who, as holder of 46 titles of nobility, is even more highly decorated than Queen Elisabeth. Koze is fascinated by this lady: With her peculiarly creepy appearance she seems like a relic from the past era of the Spanish nobility. She is the most pictured woman in Spain and a pop phenomenon. When, in 2011, she married a man 24 years younger than herself, the entire country badmouthed her. Sometimes Koze would love to be that younger man, who the Spaniards dismiss as a legacy hunter!
