Das war Freitag bei mir oder? Sehr geil 👍👍👍 Kabel? Kabel? Kabel?🤣🤣🎶🎶

Der Siegburger Max und der gebürtige Saarländer Julez, den es nach seinem Studium nach Bonn verschlug, hatten mit ihrer Partyreihe UnderDive gerade in Köln Fuß gefasst, dann kam Corona. Für unsere Podcast-Reihe haben sich die beiden wieder mal gemeinsam hinters Mischpult begeben.

1. Welche Musikrichtung hatte den größten Einfluss auf euch?

Max: Man kann schon sagen, dass die elektronische Musik mit ihrer Vielfalt den größten Einfluss auf mich hat. Man hat natürlich auf dem Weg dorthin auch einige Nebenstraßen genommen und ich bin froh, jede davon gegangen zu sein😊.

Julez: Ich habe schon im Kindesalter mit Klavierspielen angefangen. Ob Punkrock, Rap oder Techno, jede Musikrichtung hatte über Jahre einen sehr großen Einfluss auf mich. Ich entscheide mich für Letzteres, weil ich meine Liebe zur Musik nun erstmals auch vor Publikum auslebe und ich mich in der Szene einfach unglaublich geborgen fühle. 

2. Wie seid ihr zur elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Max: Das ist ca. zehn Jahre her. Und zwar bei den Total-Confusion-Partys von Kompakt im alten Bogen 2. Da ist’s geschehen😉.

Julez: Durch Zufall! 2014 hat mich ein Kumpel an einem warmen Mittwochenende zu einer Beats x Bass x Cologne ins Odonien geschleppt. Mich hat's an dem Abend total erwischt, er klemmt bis heute auf HipHop.

3. Wie seid ihr zum Auflegen gekommen?

Max: Die DJ-Anfänge sind ebenfalls ca. zehn Jahre her. Ich hing damals mit zwei, drei Kollegen rum, die fleißig am Auflegen waren. Es gab Hauspartys. Ich schaute zu. Ich probierte rum. Ich bekam ordentlich Bock. Ich ging noch ein paar weitere Male in den Bogen 2. Wir gründeten UnderDive😊.

Julez: Mein Homie Tobi hat mich 2016 vorm Feiern mal vor einen DDJ-SB2-Controller gesetzt, ich hab gar nichts gerallt. Peu á peu hat er mir das Auflegen fortan nähergebracht. Unseren ersten Gig hatten wir dann im Januar 2018 auf einer Elektro Jack in der N8 Lounge Bonn. Ging voll ab!

4. Habt ihr vor, weiterhin eher als Duo in Erscheinung zu treten oder eher solo?

Max: Volle Pulle beides!

Julez: Auf jeden, voll Pulle beides! Mir macht beides gleich viel Spaß. Alleine kann ich meinen Cosmic Techno ausleben, zusammen kreieren wir einen unglaublich abwechslungsreichen Sound irgendwo zwischen Deep House und Melodic Techno. 

5. Erzählt doch mal etwas über eure Partyreihe UnderDive?

Max: Aron und ich gründeten UnderDive im Jahr 2011. Wir veranstalteten eine Party in der Klangstation Bonn und eine Party im Studio 672 in Köln. Das waren gleichzeitig meine ersten beiden Gigs als DJ😊. Dann lag das Ganze ein paar Jahre brach. So ganz genau wissen wir gar nicht warum. Ja, und auf einmal kam Julian dazu – jetzt geht's (bald) umso steiler weiter😉.

Julez: Wir sind noch ganz am Anfang unserer Reise. Bisher habe ich zwei Partys mit den Jungs veranstaltet, eine weitere noch mit unseren Freunden von Römertanz. Das Feedback war unglaublich gut und es juckt uns gewaltig in den Fingern, an den Erfolg anzuknüpfen.

This Jannowitz Podcast is hosted by Lanna.
In year of 2019 she performed at Exit festival in Novi Sad as the youngest DJ ever played on this festival, as well as on the Garden of Dreams festival in Sarajevo. At the beginning of 2020 she started learning music production. In August 2020 I apply for Blender Lets Mix It competition for unaffirmed DJs. 
Her sound is based of mostly Progressive and Melodic Techno genre with the touch of Tech-House and Minimal.

BIO:

Martin surely can be described as legend of Nuremberg‘s electronic music scene. In 1992, at the age of 16, he discovered his passion for electronic music and began playing vinyl on two borrowed Technics turntables. During that time he completed an internship at a local radio station (Radio N1), where he soon was recognized for his Djing. 

First bookings as „Martin Martinez“, his former Dj name, at various events of the radio station like „N1 Sunday Dancehall“ and the weekly radio show „N1 Club Night“ followed, where he not only played vinyl with lots of heart, but also took over the moderation of the radio show.

Especially as a resident of the „N1 Rave Signal“ events, which took place at Volksbad, an abandoned Art Nouveau-Style bath, he soon gained a large fan base with his captivating techno and breakbeat sets and weekly played on stage with famous musicians like Sven Väth, Westbam, Carl Cox, Earth Nation, Tanith, Resistance D, Jens Lissat, Oliver Lieb and many more.

To spred his wings wider and take his immense passion for Djing to the next level, he changed his name to Martin Groovic in 1995 and soon played gigs in all major techno clubs in Franconia such as Boot, Dolphin Club, Paisley Park, Forum, Lancia Odeon, DUB Club and the Octagon in Eltmann and invitations to clubs in Munich and festivals in Italy followed.

In 1996 he and two partners founded the legendary TOS Club, where he organized weekly club nights and after hours and quickly became a well known musician in the Nuremberg techno scene for blowing up the dancefloors with his unique music style. 

His characteristics as a deliverer of music are within the inexhaustible dimensions of sound, creating imaginary dream worlds within his listeners and taking them on a journey full of depth, magic and desires – always with an unconditional love to music. His repertoire ranges from rhythmic, spherical house and techno sounds filled with lots of emotion to downtempo and acid sounds with the right drive to dance the nights away.

In 1998, after two successful years of TOS, the club mysteriously burned down and Martin moved to Munich. In 2000 he founded his family and took a time out for several years. During his break the love to music still accompanied him in private, but now the passion for Djing and the wish to create musical suspense grew strong again. And so he‘s back, more motivated than ever, presenting new monthly mixes on his Soundcloud. In the near future Martin Groovic will surely be seen and heard again in the clubs.
