Wrote and recorded this song in 2 hours or so. just trying to get back in the swing of things, recording-wise. Wanted a kind of 90's goth dance vibe. Sort of failed



Basic - HAVE A NICE LIFE (demo)

Here's a secret: recording with the input level all the way up makes you sound like My Bloody Valentine, even if you're only playing an old piano someone got for free.
  
  Written on the spot with nonsense vocals, recorded with Audcacity so I don't forget about it, though I'll probably still forget about it. This is how I try to keep track of songs. If you're interested in that kind of thing.

This is what old HAVE A NICE LIFE sounded like. A tad embarrassing, but god, I love this song. Featuring ultra-rare audible backing vocals by Tim.

Variations On The Theme From Top Gun

I would never actually release a song like this, because it's too "Broadway-y", but here it is. Pinhole mic, yadda yadda, listen to me screw up. Started trying to write one song, it sucked, changed into a different one instead.

If you were ever interested in what the inside of my head is like, this is a fairly good representation.

Born on a sinking ship (improvised giles corey demo)

One of my favorite songs of the original Giles Corey songs, but didn't make it onto the record. It's a bit sloppy, and too similar to "Spectral Bride" to warrant inclusion. I've always been really attached to the lyrics (especially at the end).

Take and do what you will, etc.

Make sure to look out for the Giles Corey "Deconstructionist" digital EP out this summer. Not so much music as a hallucination-inducing audio experiment. Watch this space!

A Landless Earth (Giles Corey B-Side)

I was bored and so improvised this 6 minute long, depressing, and pretentious acoustic song. Clearly, this is new creative territory for me! Really busting out of my comfort zone

This was supposed to be a Black Wing song, but it went all weird and kind of ended up sucking. 

Maybe sucking is a bit harsh. Not sure where this would go, though.

So I'm just going to put it here for whoever likes that kind of thing.
