New music comes forth in the form of Thiago Pery & Greekboy, with this fantastic example of soulful drum & bass straight from the heart of Brazil.
Released this month on Birmingham’s own Rotation music UK, the duo bring a flash of summer to our drizzly streets, with a sound more akin to the Sardinian drum & bass festival ‘Sun & Bass’ than any British-borne collaboration. The bouncy drum & bass you might remember from the 3am blur of last week’s clubbing is nowhere to be seen; here are crystal-clear strings and synth sounds – a far cry from the ‘noise’ your mom recalls assaulting her from your bedroom when you were a yout.
If you want to check out a little more about the Brazilians, Thiago Pery teamed up with none other than LTJ Bukem for a Fabric live promo mix back in 2014 (which I remember vividly as my first time down in the labyrinthine club that is Fabric).

Soul Deep Exclusives is proud to announce the release of the new Madcap - Vibrations EP.  Madcap is undoubtably one of the best Liquid/Jungle producers in the game, and the Vibrations EP is another example of why he has earned that reputation.  From start to finish, he fills the listeners ears with bouncy rhythms, tightly wound drums, energetic atmospherics, and rolling sub basslines, that are geared toward peak time dancefloor sets.  Madcap has become well known for his classic releases on Soul Deep, Smooth N Groove, Mac II, Fokuz, Vibez ’93, Myriad, Jazzsticks, Symmetry, AKO Beatz, and Liquid V.  Most of his songs are instantly recognizable because he has developed a signature sound that walks the line between Liquid, Jungle, and classic Jungle.  Each genre plays a vital role in his development as an artist and comes through in each floor filling track that he writes.  His tracks are constantly rocked by some of the big names in the scene including LTJ Bukem,  Randall, Fabio & Grooverider, DJ Storm , Stunna, and many more.  

The Vibrations EP begins with the absolute banger, and title track to the EP, “Vibrations”.  The masterful production features, dubby efx and vocal hits, backed by snappy, popping drums, perfectly placed tribal percussion, and an 808 bassline that will be heard from blocks away.  An instant classic tune by Madcap.  “Just Imagine”, is up next and features smooth vocals, a rolling sub bassline, echoing flutes and keys, an arpeggiated synth line, all backed by a drum pattern that takes after the famous Funky Drummer pattern. Outstanding!  Next up, is the outstanding soulful roller entitled, “Faith of the Seven”.  From eerie synth chords, softly moaning chants, to a bouncy 808 style bassline, the track stands out as top Liquid roller for 2020.  One for the headphones, for sure.  ‘Nuff Said!  Lastly, “Space Warp”, finishes things off with its swirling efx, big spring reverbs, rolling drums, and a HUGE 808 bassline.  The song pays well deserved homage to the early Hardcore tunes from the early 90’s, and reminds us that the music is fun!  This is definitely one for the dancefloor!  Overall, the “Vibrations EP” sets Madcap apart as one of the top Liquid producers in the game.  At Soul Deep, we’re very honored to be able to call him a regular contributor to the label.  Keep your eyes on him, as he has many more BIG projects to share in 2020, including a new 12” release on Soul Deep!  For now, enjoy this instant classic of a release.

Soul Deep Digital and Magnetic Soul are proud to announce the release of the Dreamworld EP, which is now available in all major digital stores and streaming sites.  The trio of producers, based out of Hong Kong, have been a mainstay on Soul Deep this last year, with this EP being their 3rd release on the imprint.  Their impressive debut album put them on the map, followed by the Mixology EP that showed off their immense talent.  We’re now graced with their latest offering, which features 6 diverse tracks, that range from Old School Breaks, Jungle, Reggae, to classic atmospheric D&B.  

The title track, “Dreamworld,” kicks things off with a beautifully crafted track, which features thought provoking piano keys, lush horns, and the cool vocals stylings of the one and only, Stezo.  Stezo has made a name for himself with releases on The North Quarter, and Vandal Limited, while being featured by scene staples, Redeyes, Satl, and Roy Green & Protone.  The EP rolls on and is highlighted by the spirited, old-school influenced anthem, “Neptune.”  The song channels the best parts of the early hardcore breaks movement and infuses them into a modern Drum & Bass dancefloor workout.  The entire EP oozes with vibes and class, as noted by some of the scene’s movers and shakers.

DRS’s Space Cadet take its third orbit round the known universe, crash-landing once again in Planet Manchester. Big V’s still flying from the rocket roof window, sat-nav bunned eternally, we run on pure fumes, instincts and emotions. Unconditionally…

This time we have a new pilot and whole new team of navigators: Evabee, TMNMS, Alto Sounds. New names to some, but not for much longer. If you’ve heard any of LSB and DRS’s sets in the last year, you’ll already know what they’re capable of. 

One song, three versions. ‘Unconditional’ is presented in three distinct ways by Manny’s leading cosmic cosmonauts. A stirring breakdown of what love can be when it’s honest and real, ‘Unconditional’ is written, sung and lead from the front by Evabee. Produced by two of her closest co-pilots Alto Sounds and TMNMS, it follows a select series of Evabee explorations both solo and as part of the collective A Broken Camarilla. Well known on the city’s live community, you might recognise her yearning, dreamy realness from collaborations with Tommy Tickle, Inka’s ‘Waveydon Ballads’ or her own self-released soul-massaging ‘Full Circle’ earlier this year. ‘Unconditional’ is her full official debut. 

The first incarnation is the DNB Remix. Beats crafted by Alto Sounds and TMNMS, Eva’s spacious delivery is given all the room it needs to hit home. Disarming, faraway, hopeful, universal, her emotional delivery brings you close in, heightened by DRS’s bars mid-way. Pure rolling food for the soul. 

It’s followed by the Hip-Hop Remix. Taking off where Space Cadet left us with DRS’s critically acclaimed guerrilla-dropped From The Deep album last January, once again Alto Sounds and TMNMS’s beats hit with a warm, authentic heat. Soft keys, slouching beats, bags of space for the delicately woven vocal lines from Evabee and DRS, it captures of the essence and soul of the city each of the creative individuals involved call home. 

The last significant bit comes courtesy of LSB. Mentored and deeply inspired by Marcus Intalex, a Space Cadet lieutenant since time and one of Delroy’s closest creative partners, Luke Beavon adds his touch to the original with a star-gazing remix that’s already turned heads across the drum & bass spectrum. Continuing the theme and vibes of their recent album ‘The Blue Hour’, the duo’s rolling sense of restraint and subtleties are felt deep in every detail. Recently captured on video at drum & bass spiritual HQ Sun And Bass, where Evabee performed the song live, it’s a classic dubplate story with many, many chapters left to be written…

This is what Space Cadet is all about. A discipline that runs deep in the code; celebrating the music, giving it time and space to breathe and making sure the coordinates are always set for the future generation and giving new talent their own rocket packs to fly freely. DRS’s years of grafting, connecting and rallying up the Northern troops can be seen and felt in the pulse of Manchester from everyone who’s graduated from Estate Recordings to the stratospheric prominence of Children Of Zeus. Space Cadet is the latest embodiment of Delroy’s dedication. And they’re only just warming up. 

Three releases and one year deep. Rocket roof open, V’s locked and loaded, it’s time to fly once again…
