Eric Shuster (b. 1986, USA) is a musician based on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He performs in concert halls, opera houses, festivals, art spaces, dive bars, and living rooms. He also produces diverse concert programs in his local community and directs a percussion ensemble.  He often collaborates with composers and artists to create new work; sometimes projects that exist between music, theatre, dance, and visual art. Included on this playlist are collaborators Carolyn Chen, Wally Gunn, Kyle Page, and Matt Wellins. Eric is currently a Lecturer of Music at Salisbury University, where he has served since 2011.

This is some of my favorite music, since I first heard the original recording on the double CD "First Thought Best Thought" released on Audika Records. Despite the charm and the quality of the original recording I think this music should be played live and be part of a alternative contemporary music repertoire.

This is a private live recording which documents my reconstruction of the score togehter with ensemble für neue musik zürich and conductor Sebastian Gottschick.

PERCUSSIONIST COMPOSER

Since 1999, Martin Lorenz has worked as a freelance percussionist on the contemporary and experimental music scene and has realized solo and chamber music projects with assorted partners: with Conrad Steinmann, with Sebastian Berweck, with Teodora Stepancic, the ‘ensemble für neue musik zürich’ and others. These partnerships have resulted in collaborative projects with composers such as Annesley Black, Antoine Chessex, Luc Döbereiner, Edu Haubensak, Bernhard Lang, Virgil Moorefield, and Alfred Zimmerlin, whose works Martin Lorenz has premiered.

Martin Lorenz began to use electronics to complement his arsenal of percussion instruments, and thus expanded his spectrum of expressive forms towards installative works and music on the fringes of alternative club culture. This versatility is also characteristic of his work as a composer; his oeuvre includes solo and ensemble pieces. Furthermore, he has created a series of electronic works for his performances as a DJ, which he has published in a small limited edition on records prepared by hand.
