"Exactly one year ago Covid-19 arrived on a Boeing 747 from China and screwed up everyone’s lives. No-one has been affected more than DJs and the nightlife economy, whose livelihoods were removed at a stroke (nightclubs have now been completely closed for just over a year). That left me without the majority of my income, having to survive on buttons, dog food and freshly foraged nettles. 

Unfortunately, I ended up living in a shed, with only a dog and faulty lawnmower for company. There’s nothing like shed-living to focus your mind on the future and contemplate new ways of earning a crust. Then I had a brainwave and it wasn’t related to repairing the lawnmower. Why not try and use my infinitesimal musical knowledge for the good of society (and also, yes, me) and try building a Patreon community. 

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Patreon, it’s a website that was created for fans (and fans of fans) of creatives to help support them through their hare-brained schemes. As someone who’s had several schemes, hare-brained or otherwise, it was perfect for me. I’ve have built up a reputation over the years via books, DJ sets, compilations, live broadcasts and hardcore sex shows for being someone who knows a little bit about dance music culture. So in return for a mere five quid a month, I offer a download a day, plus access to all my mixes, shows and podcasts (with full tracklists). The downloads are in a variety of styles, from house bangers, rare disco, bonkers Balearic records, funky rock made by hairy men from the early 1970s and killer funk tracks made by lovely Portuguese women (among many others). This is not music you’d usually find on Spotify.

Believe the hype: One of Catz 'n Dogz most popular tracks enjoys a widescreen, full flavour remix boost with a host of exciting new reinterpretations from Sebra Cruz, Alan Dixon, Vhyce and Nowheretobefound.

A beautiful emotional trip, built around the instantly disarming dulcet tones of Jono McCleery, 'Would You Believe' was one of the runaway success stories of Polish duo Catz 'n Dogz' fourth studio album 'Friendship'. Released just over two years ago, in October 2019, it's remained a Pets favourite ever since, racking up over 2 million streams on Spotify alone.

'We love this track, this is one of our most successful songs, its often on the radio and people ask about it all the time. That's why we were thinking to refresh it a bit and ask our friends to remix it.'

The 'Friendship' gift that keeps on giving, 'Would You Believe' has undergone a full refresh across the board with new styles and vibes from close friends of the label, each one suiting a different chapter of the night.

Ex-Margot member Sebra Cruz sets us on our merry way with a chilled a dubby intro that suddenly breaks out into an ardent piano-slapping house bomb waiting to explode. He's swiftly followed by Alan Dixon who maintains that buoyancy and positivity across two incendiary versions - a firing club version and a beautiful reprise for those special creative mixing moments.

Looking for a more sober, heavy-gravity take on Jono's voice and Catz N Dogz original? Jump on the deep dub science of Nowheretobefound, the latest off-piste exploit from Polish D&B artist Satl's new side alias. Last but not least, Vhyce returns to the label to make us float again with his two highly cosmic deep, synthy house takes.

No cut covering the same ground, each cut shining a whole new light on the original, this is the way remix packages should be. You better believe it.

Running Back boss Gerd Janson is in high demand as a DJ, producer and remixer. Janson has carved out his own irresistible style that blurs genre lines. Martin Brodin is the Swedish producer who puts the MB in MB Disco. Alexandra Hamnede is a Swedish singer who fronted Danish chill act Bliss and sang for Swedish Deep House trailblazers, Physics. Exclusive DJ Hotel 'Sleepless'

Known for their exquisite taste Tom Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich installed Permanent Vacation as a label that features electronic music from underground to renowned to highly acknowledged artists. What unites these people is their common sentiment of producing edgy music, with each track, each EP and each album representing these simple standalone features that can shortly be summed up as each artist's trademark sound. After having had Marvin & Guy, Fort Romeau or Yør Kultura on the label this year already, it's now time for DJ Hotel to book his Permanent Vacation-spot. His five-tracker 'Sleepless' is musically a homage to deep House music. The pads and chords in the EP's eponymous track create an ongoing momentum of reckless abandon to chosen and merged elements, which even gain a deeper note with Hotel's vocal insertions throughout the track. The driving bass line as well as the vocal-snippets, which are basically a question, 'Are you ready?' and the answer to it, 'yes' are drowned by a fiddle that harmonically suits the track's overall composition, hence it adds a melancholic profoundness to 'Sleepless' and basically simulates 'sleep' - a sleep that is continuously interrupted by a sound that reminds one of sending an email and therefore evoke anxiety leading to sleeplessness.

DJ Hotel's EP 'Sleepless' will be released on Permanent Vacation on June 21st, 2019.

<b>Martin Brodin Biography</b>		

Martin Brodin is a Swedish DJ, producer, and most importantly a music lover.
His serious interest in music began during the early 1980s, a decade in which he grooved to the sounds of Yello, Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. Martin became instantly hooked on House music when he heard Lil Louis’ French Kiss in the early 1990s. His passion for Disco began with First Choice’s Dr Love.

A champion of the re-emergence of Disco, Martin Brodin founded MB Disco in 2010. This label has released music from the likes of Psychemagik, Ray Mang and Chicken Lips, as well as Brodin’s debut album. Leroy Burgess featured on one release and Martin has put out updated remixes of classics by Newcleus and Giorgio Moroder. The MB Edits sub-label was launched in 2013, well ahead of the current edits trend. 

Before MB Disco, Martin Brodin ran labels that were important in the development of Deep House and Tech House. His Deeplay Music label championed Soulful flavours from the likes of Physics, Jask,  Rurals and Dalminjo, whilst Deeplay Soultec released music by Martinez, Jori Hulkkonen, Guy Gerber, Noir and Tiger Stripes (as 12th Floor) amongst others. 

Martin Brodin has released music on labels such as Southern Fried, Buzzin Fly, Compost, Buzzin Fly and Nang, as well as his own imprints. His tracks have been remixed by the likes of Spencer Parker, diskJokke, Bottin and Faze Action. Brodin’s productions caught the ears of DJs like Carl Cox, Nick Warren, Andrew Weatherall and Claude VonStroke, who included Martin’s music on their mix CDs. 

As a remixer, three moments stand out for Martin.  The first was when he was asked to remix Human League’s Sky, which was released on Wall Of Sound. The second was his revision of Giorgio Moroder’s 1978 classic, The Chase. The third was the remix he did of She’s Electric by legendary synth band Visage.

His first DJ mix CD was compilation of the month in IDJ Magazine, back in 2005. As a DJ, Martin has played everywhere from London to Tokyo. 

Today, Martin Brodin is still an active producer, DJ and label boss.
