Sweden's finest disco knight Martin Brodin re-releases his classic hit Gamma Ray with two brand new remixes. HMWL premieres the one by the UK deep house / nu disco veteran . Pete Herbert - the connoisseur behind the legendary Atlas Records shop in Soho. 

Since its release in 2014, 'Gamma Ray' has been one of MB Disco's best-selling tracks. Now it gets reinvigorated with fresh remixes from Pete Herbert, Swedish Disco Jets and label head Martin Brodin.

The original was a collaboration between Brodin and Dumb Dan and offered serious disco heat. First to remix it is a man who is a master of such sounds, Pete Herbert. The UK veteran has done it all over the years, played every major club and festival and worked closely with labels like Disco Deviance, Nang and Gomma. His glorious take has vamping chords building the funk over chunky, rump-wiggling drums.

At the breakdown, the exquisite synth work shines through and brings the cosmic vibes before the drums roll again.

He developed an extraordinary passion for electronic dance music since 2009.

Because it received such great support and feedback from fans and peers alike, here Sweden’s Martin Brodin releases the single, ‘Don’t Stop The Dance’, taken from his recent ‘Bla Bla Bla’ album and selects choice remixers in the form of Ytre Rymden Dansskola and LeSale.

The original is a slow burning disco scorcher with plenty of corrugated synth lines, lazy but groove inducing claps and shimmering male and female vocals that work in unison. It’s stuffed with colour and analogue details but never feels anything other than blissful, and if you prefer your records without vocals you’re in luck as a dub version is also included.

The flipside has the stellar Austrian producer, LeSale – who has received high acclaimed for his releases on Vienna label, Luv Shack Records – on remix duties. He strips things back to a doleful disco slow jam with fewer synth lines. It makes the track perfect for those moments after the sun has set with its warm and inviting mood.

Finally, the other remix comes from Norwegian act Ytre Rymden Dansskola, aka the duo of Jarle Bråthen and Marius Våreid, who have created a fine name for themselves with releases on Prins Thomas’s Full Pupp label. Their version is laced up with funky guitar riffs, plenty of beachy chords and glistening percussive clatters and hits that bit harder on top of a raw beat. 

An already much loved single gets plenty of new life breathed into here… watch it go this summer!

<b>Martin Brodin Biography</b>		

Martin Brodin is a Swedish DJ, producer, and most importantly a music lover.
His serious interest in music began during the early 1980s, a decade in which he grooved to the sounds of Yello, Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. Martin became instantly hooked on House music when he heard Lil Louis’ French Kiss in the early 1990s. His passion for Disco began with First Choice’s Dr Love.

A champion of the re-emergence of Disco, Martin Brodin founded MB Disco in 2010. This label has released music from the likes of Psychemagik, Ray Mang and Chicken Lips, as well as Brodin’s debut album. Leroy Burgess featured on one release and Martin has put out updated remixes of classics by Newcleus and Giorgio Moroder. The MB Edits sub-label was launched in 2013, well ahead of the current edits trend. 

Before MB Disco, Martin Brodin ran labels that were important in the development of Deep House and Tech House. His Deeplay Music label championed Soulful flavours from the likes of Physics, Jask,  Rurals and Dalminjo, whilst Deeplay Soultec released music by Martinez, Jori Hulkkonen, Guy Gerber, Noir and Tiger Stripes (as 12th Floor) amongst others. 

Martin Brodin has released music on labels such as Southern Fried, Buzzin Fly, Compost, Buzzin Fly and Nang, as well as his own imprints. His tracks have been remixed by the likes of Spencer Parker, diskJokke, Bottin and Faze Action. Brodin’s productions caught the ears of DJs like Carl Cox, Nick Warren, Andrew Weatherall and Claude VonStroke, who included Martin’s music on their mix CDs. 

As a remixer, three moments stand out for Martin.  The first was when he was asked to remix Human League’s Sky, which was released on Wall Of Sound. The second was his revision of Giorgio Moroder’s 1978 classic, The Chase. The third was the remix he did of She’s Electric by legendary synth band Visage.

His first DJ mix CD was compilation of the month in IDJ Magazine, back in 2005. As a DJ, Martin has played everywhere from London to Tokyo. 

Today, Martin Brodin is still an active producer, DJ and label boss.
