After chasing him for a while, I got in touch and asked him to do a track for my “In Flight Entertainment" compilation and that was “Through Thorns To The Stars," his first release as a solo artist. A year went by and today I’m really excited for you to hear his first EP on Aeropop.

Deathwish was an instant classic to me. The simplicity and efficiency of the bass line got me within the first seconds, even before the hypnotizing vocal came in. Bass is really important to Martin, he is a bass player after all, and you can tell when listening to Eumenides, with its huge bass riff carrying you through the track.  It’s great house music put together with precision and knowledge, depth and width. The overall textures and sounds on these tracks will just wrap around you like a warm analog blanket. Play it loud, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.” Vito Aeroplane

The EP’s title track is “a great dancefloor jam,” Says La.Ga.Sta. “With an infectious bassline and hypnotic vocals from Phillip Bush and Jo Harvey – something we can’t get enough of…We love.” 

The release has also caught the attention of Andrew Rafter from Harder Blogger Faster, who has been an ongoing early supporter of Dubka’s. “Martin Dubka first burst onto our radar after his excellent production work on Tyson’s debut album, states Andrew. “Alongside his productions, Martin also performs a unique modular live show which sees the Londoner roll up to a club with what looks like a homemade bomb and plays a completely improvised live show.”

Electronic Rumors has too showed their support for the release, describing the track as “a deep house groove with a mantra vocal.”  They also hail Dubka as the “remixer extraordinaire and the subject of possibly the best Future Music In The Studio With… ever.”

The title track Deathwish, also comes with a video featuring infamous Alan The Dancing Misanthrope at XOYO. “In a bathroom somewhere in Dalston, I mumbled the lyrics to Deathwish into my phone,” Explains Dubka.  “That was how I saw the world at that moment. The futility and the romance of nightlife. When I think about clubbing in London in 2014, I see my friend Alan dancing on his own at the front of XOYO.”

Very sad to hear Late Of The Pier drummer Ross Dawsom died today..  Saw them live at Trash years ago, loved the album.. Love to all Ross' friends and family..

I think this was my second ever remix back in 2008.. Seem to remember Kitsune asked me to do it but never actually released it..

I know he's saying "and out of control" but I like to think he's saying "I'm out of Cointreau".. especially just before the synth solo..
